Your Itinerary

Sun City Resort is set in the stark ruggedness of the North West Region of South Africa, and is surrounded by mountains and the untamed majesty of the African bushveld. It is a wedge-shot away from the Pilanesberg National Park, where elephant, rhino, lion and antelope roam freely. The Palace of the Lost City is the premier hotel at the Sun City resort. It is one of the most enticing travelers' destinations in the world, a tribute to man's imagination and revered for its art and architecture. Fabled to be the royal residence of an ancient king, it is truly one of the 'Worlds Leading Hotels''. The Palace lavishes its guests with 5-star service, and is luxurious in every facet of its fabulous architecture and decor. Surrounding the hotel is a 25 hectare botanical jungle, threaded with meandering paths, cascades, lakes and pools and a variety of water-borne adventure rides.

<Day 3 ~ The Lost City

Today play The Lost City (tbc). The desert style design of the golf course has an exotic allure all of its own and designer, Gary Player has acknowledged it as one of his favorite courses. The Lost City Golf Course is flexible: playing off the forward tee a course length of 5953 meters, extending to 6 983 meters off the back tee. The course provides spectacular views of the Palace Hotel and the neighboring game reserve. The most hazardous area of the Lost City Golf Course is the 13th hole. Inhabiting the water hazard are 38 Nile crocodiles, some of them nearly 14 ft long. Playing the back nine is like going on a golf safari. It has often been noted that the game is more exciting when played downhill and this is certainly the case here. In addition to the previously mentioned 13th, holes eleven, fourteen, fifteen and sixteen are all played from elevated tees offering thrill, excitement and challenge to the golfer. And some of the most spectacular African views to be had on a golf course.

Your Itinerary

Tremendous views across the bushveld are prevalent on this beautiful course carved from the rocky terrain by Gary Player. Carts are compulsory to navigate this layout and water hazards are prevalent, factoring into the strategy on more than half the holes. The bentgrass greens and kikuyu fairways are maintained at a high level. The Lost City course requires you to use every club in your bag, and negotiate uphill and downhill shots with equal proficiency. A magnificent design.

<Day 4 ~ Gary Player Country Club

Today play Gary Player Country Club (tbc). Arguably South Africa's most famous course courtesy of its status as host of the Nedbank Golf Challenge and its position as the Top ranked course for 5 years. Situated in the crater of an extinct Volcano, the course cuts through the African bush and flanks a nature reserve, for 16 holes. Thick kikuyu rough and impenetrable bush punishes the wayward shot, so come armed with a good swing and a better brain. The course is blessed with superb greens that have recently been rebuilt and modernized with the bunkers.

Your Itinerary

The legendary Gary Player, whose name is synonymous with golf not only in South Africa but globally, designed this beast of a course. It’s a fair beast, but there are obstacles sprinkled throughout. The kikuyu fairways are exceptional yet it’s the slick, heavily sloped bentgrass greens that are the signature. The course is rather flat, though it winds across lakes and through bush and the ninth hole, a diabolical par-5 is one that visitors will not soon forget.

<Day 5 4 nights ~ Madikwe Safari Lodge

.
image

Your Itinerary

Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse, malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, offering exceptional game viewing, simple yet sophisticated accommodation, superlative service and unique regional cuisine. Each suite features a sitting area, a bedroom with circular fireplace, a spacious dressing area with personal bar, an en suite bathroom with bath, indoor and outdoor shower and a private plunge pool. The rooms are organic in design and woven copper screens add intriguing detail. Overlooking Madikwe's game-filled plains, intimate sitting areas in all three camps feature shaded outdoor seating on expansive covered decks. There are plentiful fireplaces both inside and outdoors with pizza ovens for fun dining, book-filled libraries and a unique safari shop. A covered outdoor living room offers beanbags and cushions on the floor for casual relaxation. The nearby boma is the setting for evocative starlit dinners.

<Day 9 4 nights ~ Table Bay Hotel

.
image

Your Itinerary

The Table Bay Hotel is a five-star, 329-room hotel and it uniquely responds to its magnificent surroundings. It has a maritime flavour that extends to each room and suite, which has sea or mountain views and is a luxurious port of call. The interior of the hotel presents a kaleidoscope of impressions, from the European marble mosaic of the entrance court to the intricate parquet floor of the foyer framed by the full-scale drama of Table Mountain, with the activity of the harbour in the foreground. Below the foyer to the south, is the grand lounge with its cathedral ceiling and twin fireplaces. The Table Bay is situated adjacent to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront shopping and entertainment complex overlooking the Cape Town harbour and is five minutes from the city centre. A nearby dock, capable of accommodating an ocean liner, is at the threshold of the restaurant. The restaurant, has a private dining bay and Wine Cellar, and panoramic views of the mountain range and harbour. The hotel has a heated pool, well equipped gym and a health spa on site.

<Day 10 ~ Steenberg Golf Club

Play today at Steenberg (tbc). An 18 hole championship course designed by Peter Matkovich; a backdrop of vineyards, gardens, forests and mountains provides the setting for this beautiful exclusive course. The course is always in excellent condition with bent grass greens and lush fairways. Steenberg offers you the opportunity of excellent golf within the historic setting of one of the Cape's oldest wine farms. Dating back to 1682 the vineyards have been replanted and 140 acres are now under vines.

image

<Day 12 ~ Pearl Valley Golf Club

Play today at Pearl Valley (tbc). Set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, this new Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is a treat to play. Pearl Valley is probably in the top conditioned course in South Africa. As with many Nicklaus courses, water on the right with plenty of sand, will keep the golfers mind off the wide landing areas provided. Also a new development, the course and it's geographical location allow for guests to enjoy a day outing in the Winelands with high quality golf to compliment the food and wine. A second course, 'Bears Best' will be built shortly on the same property. (cart fee included)
