  • Mon, Nov 9Rio De Janeiro, Brazil The Olympic

The Olympic Golf Course, rated No. 1 in Brazil, is located in Barra da Tijuca slightly less than an hour from Rio. It was designed by the esteemed American architect Gil Hanse for golf’s return to the 2016 Olympic Games following a 112-year hiatus. The 7,160-yard par 71 layout served as the ideal venue for an epic battle between Englishman Justin Rose and the Swedish star Henrik Stenson, which Rose won with a brilliant 72-hole total of 16-under par. Inbee Park closed with a 66 to clear Silver Medalist Lydia Ko by five shots for the women’s title. The course has a links-style look and feel, drawing comparisons to the Australian Sandbelt courses.
Golf at The Olympic Golf Course is played with golf carts.

This afternoon is free to explore the city on your own or relax and enjoy the hotel facilities.

  • Wed, Nov 11Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Gávea

Gávea Golf and Country Club, nestled between the Tijuca National Forest and a seaside peak called Gávea Rock (Pedra da Gávea), this short, enjoyable par-68, 6000-yard course rewards precision over power. The front nine meanders along the foot of the mountain and the par-3 fifth hole is often mentioned as one of the world’s most beautiful. The back nine begins with five holes beside the sea before a closing stretch that returns golfers to the hills. Founded in 1921, the course was designed by Arthur Morgan Davidson, a Scot, who was 20 years old at the time.
Golf at Gavea Golf & Country Club is played with caddies.

The remainder of the day and the evening is at your leisure.

Chile’s capital and largest city, Santiago is in the Maipo Valley, is found nearly 2,000 feet above sea level, tucked between four mountain ranges: the Chacabuco and Angostura Ranges to the North and South; the Andes to the East and the Coast Mountains to the West.

  • Fri, Nov 13Santiago, Chile Brisas de Chicureo

Brisas de Chicureo Golf Course is a 36 hole, par 72 course, offering play on two courses – the Valley course and the Mountain Course. Following international standards, it's a beautiful layout, wild in its environment and very demanding for players.

The fairways are uneven, there are waist bunkers, cross bunkers, bunkers, fast greens with plenty of movement and holes with lagoons, all putting to the test even the most distinguished in the discipline. This circuit offers a very unique characteristic: it can be approached without wind, for when wind comes, it becomes another course. Challenging indeed.

The Valley Circuit, par 72, is a layout designed to enjoy golf with quality fairways and greens allowing golfers from every skill level to achieve good rounds. Its broad fairways, its few and low roughs and soft hills, allow good shooting positions.
Golf at Brisas de Chicureo is played with golf carts.

The golfers return to the hotel late in the afternoon.

Noi Vitacura Hotel - Deluxe Room

  • Sat, Nov 14Santiago, Chile

Today, guests enjoy a full day to explore the bustling city of Santiago, starting at the city’s Civic Center with the neoclassical La Moneda Palace, which is the seat of government. The trip continues downtown at the pre-Colombian Art Museum, containing a collection of more than 1,500 ceramics and textiles drawn from the Inca, Mayan and Aztec cultures. Plaza de Armas is the vibrant colonial city center, featuring wide stone pathways and colorful gardens. The Central Market has an array of fresh seafood, fruits and flowers while the National Historical Museum and the 18th-century Cathedral are also highlights of this tour.

Visit the Fine Arts Museum and the Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was founded in 1541. Concluding the tour are a visit to a lapis-lazuli handicraft and jewel store. Lapis-lazuli is a precious and prized deep-blue stone believed to have intense powers.

Around noon, we will arrive at Santa Rita Vineyard, south of Santiago in the Andes foothills. Founded in 1880, this is an award-winning vineyard, exporting some of the country’s finest wines. We will enjoy lunch followed by a guided tour with wine tastings.

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Noi Vitacura Hotel - Deluxe Room

  • Sun, Nov 15Santiago, Chile Granadilla

This morning golfers and non-golfers alike visit  Valparaiso, commonly known as “Valpo” to the locals, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring striking architecture and multi-colored housing in this eclectic city along the South Pacific. Walk the narrow, winding streets of this significant educational and cultural outpost, known as the “Jewel of the Pacific” by international sailors. While the city’s economy and commerce suffered in the latter half of the 20th century due to the opening of the Panama Canal, it has recovered in recent years due to fruit exports and other shipping enterprise.

Granadilla Golf Club. Ranked fourth in Chile, the course traces roots to 1897 as the Valparaiso Golf Club, established by English businessmen who were working in the South Pacific seaport. Ranked No. 4 in Chile, the course is somewhat confined in a 120-acre parcel, measuring 6,453 yards from the back tees. Granadilla features a unique routing, opening with a par-5 and finishing with two more back-to-back. Cross a hanging bridge connecting the first green to the second tee and navigate the narrow, sloping fairways protected by native vegetation.

  • Mon, Nov 16Cusco, PeruBelmond Monasterio

Cusco is a city in the Peruvian Andes where the Inca and Spanish cultures intermingled, leaving Spanish colonial buildings erected upon early Inca foundations. Known as the “belly button of the world” Cusco is the archaeological capital of the Americas and the gateway to the ruins nearby scattered about the Sacred Valley.

The remainder of the day is free to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities or explore the local area.

Belmond Monasterio Hotel - Superior Room

  • Tues, Nov 17Cusco, Peru

Today all will enjoy a full schedule exploring Cusco and the nearby ruins.

The fortress of Sacsayhuaman is a massive structure of stones, carved and fitted together with remarkable precision. Qenqo is one of the largest huacas (holy places) in the Cusco region, a site locals believed to be used for sacrifices and mummifications. The ruins at Puka-Pukara - named for the red color of the rocks at dusk - were used for military purposes although there’s much debate about the specific activities that were carried out there. Tambomachay was known as the Inca Baths, because that’s where the natives were thought to cleanse their soul. The labyrinth of aqueducts is both mystical and functional. In the Imperial City, we’ll stroll through the Main Square, discovering the Cathedral, admiring its exquisite vestibules and the priceless paintings from the Cusco School of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Qoricancha (The Golden Temple) will complete our tour. It is perhaps the most impressive building in the region. Dedicated as a place to worship the Sun God, the interior walls were once covered in gold, as legend relays the story.

Remainder of the day at your leisure.

Belmond Monasterio Hotel - Superior Room

  • Wed, Nov 18Cusco, Peru

Guests will require to take their passports today in order to collect train and Machu Picchu tickets.

After an early breakfast guests will board the luxurious Hiram Bingham train at Urubamba Station for a noon arrival at Machu Picchu, enjoying a spectacular view along the way. Wood-paneled interiors and brass finishes evoke images from the classic days of parlour cars. Local musicians perform in the Bar Car as you travel through the heart of the Inca Empire.

Our coach from the station will take us 1,500 feet up the mountain for a 2-3 hour private tour of the exceptionally well preserved ruins. Archaeologists are somewhat in agreement that this 15th century Inca capital was constructed as a home for the emperor, Pachacuti, but was likely abandoned during the Spanish conquest, roughly a century later.

This UNESCO World Heritage site has three primary structures - Intihuatana, The Temple of the Sun, and The Room of The Three Windows. The site sat undiscovered until the American historian Hiram Bingham brought attention to it in 1911. It was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a 2007 internet poll. The architectural genius and beauty is certain to leave a lasting impression on any visitor.

Our return onboard the Hiram Bingham train includes dinner, cocktails and live music. Expected return at the hotel is 10:30pm.

FAQs

  • What is PerryGolf’s Small Group Tour background?

We have operated small group tours since 1984, principally for small groups of friends on a customized basis. The small group tours we now offer are slightly different in that individuals who do not know each other can sign up for the trip and be part of a larger group. The service and delivery principle are the same however. We strive to excel and deliver memorable golf and travel experiences as we have done for thousands of clients since 1984.

  • Tell me more about Small Group Tour experience.
If you enjoy combining your love of golf with a passion for travel, you’ll find a relaxing and highly rewarding experience on this Small Group Tour for a party of 24 - 30. Every aspect is fully managed from the handling of your luggage and equipment to hotel and golf course check ins. Various meals, guided sightseeing, carts / caddies, local taxes, service charges and gratuities (excluding caddies) are included in addition to sandwiches, snacks plus an open bar for beer and wine during our time at each of the golf courses. Best of all, this PerryGolf vacation promises an ideal opportunity to join a group of fun, like-minded new friends.
  • Where do the Small Group Tours operate?

Our portfolio of Small Group Tours is assembled on an annual basis. Most will feature countries we offer for Custom Tours including Scotland, Spain, Italy, France, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa but we also enjoy taking the opportunity to visit exceptional golf and lifestyle destinations people don’t always think of such as South American and Southeast Asia. Check Small Group Tours for our current portfolio.

  • Should I take out travel insurance?

PerryGolf strongly recommends that you have luggage, accident and trip cancellation insurance. It is important for your own self-interest and protection that you make certain you have adequate coverage. Full details of the Travel Insurance that PerryGolf can make available to you is available here.

  • What format do the Small Group Tours follow?

Our Small Group Tours are a fully managed all-inclusive experience, delivered in a way that ensures exceptional guest satisfaction. All arrangements and logistics are managed in advance and onsite by PerryGolf. Beyond golf, guests are free to explore on their own arrangements. The ethos of the escorted tour program is to create a turnkey environment for travelers to relax and enjoy every aspect of the tour, without concerning themselves with the details. The program creates a stress-free environment, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their chosen destination and the opportunity of playing some of the world’s finest and most memorable golfing venues…to do so in the company of existing or likeminded new-found friends.

  • What is included in the price of the Escorted Tour?

Our Small Group Tours are as all-inclusive as it is possible to be while providing each traveler the flexibility to create their own experiences. All accommodations, breakfasts, welcome & farewell cocktails & dinner, (often multiple dinner), all transportation and gratuities are included. At the golf courses, all greens fees, cart fees (or caddies at certain venues – excludes caddie gratuity), range balls, lunches, open bar at respective clubhouses and gratuities are included.

  • What is a typical Small Group Tour group size?

The typical group size is approximately 24 golfers, with on average a further 10 non-golfing spouses. Some guests join our Small Group Tours as relatively self-contained groups, e.g. 2 or 4 couples who know each other, and they will have their own golfing partners already arranged. Other guests travel as individual couples or single travelers and are seeking to meet and play golf with other guests. We will arrange golf pairings for these guests and through this a great many friendship are born. Non-golfing spouses are also perfectly catered for with a range of sightseeing opportunities available.

  • What is a typical golf day?

Transfers from your hotel to golf courses are coordinated ample time to arrive, hit balls and have lunch (if time appropriate). Similarly, after golf, there is time scheduled for drinks before returning to your hotel. Additional activities are scheduled on escorted trips and clearly listed on each day’s schedule.

  • Are internal flights included?

Yes. When a tour requires an internal flight in the middle of an Escorted Tour, PerryGolf will include the cost of an economy ticket in the package cost (excluding Small Group Tours to South Africa). We will also include your carriage of golf equipment where relevant and a suitable luggage allowance. Guests are responsible for their own arrival/departure international flight arrangements which our Air Services staff can assist you with at 800.344.5257 or Air@PerryGolf.com.

  • What is the expected dress code?

Depending on the destination, smart golfing attire is expected, bermuda shorts and collared shirts never go out of style. Shorts are welcome and typical on the golf course. Indeed, dress codes as would apply in North America apply on golf courses around the world. In the evening shorts or long pants are acceptable with golf/casual shirt. There is no requirement at any stage for a coat and/or tie.

  • Are gratuities included?

All local taxes plus service charges and gratuities are included for all included items such as guides, baggage handling, golf service personnel etc. The only gratuity which is not included is the gratuity to your caddie. This is because we consider it to be a more one to one personal matter which is as much about personal recognition as it is about the actual remuneration. A gratuity of $15-$20 per caddie per round is appropriate.

  • How much free time will we have?

For guests who are golfing and sightseeing, it is a fairly full schedule, with the majority of guests wishing to see and do as much as they can in what may be a once in a lifetime trip. We do however build in some “downtime” to allow guests to simply relax and enjoy the outstanding facilities at our various hotels.

  • What level of fitness & mobility is required?

Activities may include walking over uneven or rough surfaces, stepping on/off buses, walking up/down stairways where elevators do not exist, stepping in/out of tender boats or occasionally smaller boats, this list is intended as representative but is not exhaustive. If a guest has any concerns over their fitness or mobility levels they should discuss this in advance of any trip with a PerryGolf golf travel specialist and they will provide further information with regard to the activities that you are concerned about, but in general, PerryGolf activities are not designed or intended to be overly strenuous.
