Machrihanish Dunes

Found on the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, neighboring the venerable Machrihanish Golf Club, David McLay Kidd (Bandon Dunes, Castle Course at St Andrews) was commissioned to fashion the first new links in west Scotland in 100 years without being permitted to alter the dunescape in any significant way.  All 259 acres lie within a Site of Special Scientific Interest meaning this layout is as natural as they get.  The fairways are as they were found.  Bunkers are found burrowing animals created them.  Opened in 2009, this par 72 stretches to 7,082 yards among incredible expanses of grass covered dunes as a modern throwback to golf origins.

Our trip was exceptional. We had great weather, stayed in excellent accommodations and played some outstanding golf courses. I don't know of anything that could have turned out better than it did! Thanks again Colin and give our best to Anne.
