Located on the Northwest Coast of England, St. Anne’s has played host to final qualifying of the Open Championship on several occasions. All of the greats of golf from Walter Hagen to Arnold Palmer to Rory McIlroy have walked these fairways and been impressed. The ninth hole, a 170-yard par-3 is simply terrific, a well-bunkered small green providing the utmost challenge. As the great American amateur Bobby Jones once said: “It’s difficult to see how you could improve on this.”
