Brora Golf Club

Brora Scotland

This seaside links has stood the passing of time and remains a fair and challenging test of a true traditional links course. Found 20 miles north of Dornoch, which is a delightful drive along the coast, Brora is the most northernly of Scotland’s hidden gems.  The club was founded in 1891 as a nine-hole course later modified by J.H, Taylor then again in 1923 by James Braid which is the layout played today.  The outward nine plays as close to the sea as any links there is.  There are no dunes here so what the scorecard lacks for distance (6,211) the North Sea winds make up for with persistence. One of the finest holes is the 438 yard, 17th “Tarbatness”; named for the lighthouse which gives you the line from an elevated tee making this one of the best driving holes in all of Scotland.
