Itinerary

    Day-by-Day Itinerary

  • Expand all daysClose all days
  • Day 1

This evening depart the United States.

  • Day 2 Royal Portrush - Valley Dunluce Lodge

On arrival at the Dublin Airport you will be met by PerryGolf personnel who will assist you with your luggage and transfer to your transportation.

Your preferred arrival & departure airport options are dependent on your personal preferences. The closest airport to your first hotel/golf course is listed first. Some airports have direct transatlantic flights from US cities while others only offer service with connections through European hub cities. Our air department is available to talk through your air travel options.

Golf on Royal Portrush - The Valley (tbc).  The course is laid out in a marvellous span of land surrounded by golden sands on two sides and the Antrim Coast on the other side. New holes constructed to accommodate changes on the Dunluce for the Open Championship, have elevated the stature of the Valley.  It starts gently for holes 1-4, before it really gets going with wonderful holes threading their way through the Dunes.  Conditions are as good as the Dunluce and this is no pushover, a proper and enoyable test of links golf awaits.

  • Day 3 Castlerock - Mussenden

Play today at Castlerock (tbc).  Castlerock is the lesser known of three links in the area lead by Royal Portrush and Portstewart but by no measure a pushover.  A round on this 6,767 yard par 73 within several strokes of your handicap is well played.  Founded with 9 holes in 1901, extended to 18 by Ben Sayers in 1908, then modified by Harry Colt in 1925, then again by Martin Hawtree in 2017, the club has done an admirable job of evolving with the game. There are no cupcakes here.  The club’s signature hole is “Leg O’Mutton, a 200-yard par 3 played to an elevated green with the railway right and a burn left.  The nine hole course is well worth a turn particularly for the par 5 fifth considered to be one of the most scenic in Irish golf.

  • Day 4 Ballyliffin - Glashedy Links

Today play Ballyliffin - Glashedy Links (tbc). This new course opened in the summer of 1995 and offers a modern championship test that is considered by many to be the best new links course built this century. Ballyliffin is Ireland's most northerly golf club and is often referred to as ''the Dornoch of Ireland''. Please note a very limited supply of golf carts are available for hire. Certain restrictions may apply, please advise your Golf Travel Specialist.

  • Day 5 Portstewart - Strand Course

Today play Portstewart - Strand Course (tbc).  Possibly, indeed probably, The Strand Course at Portstewart has always been inspired by her renowned neighbors Royal County Down and Royal Portrush to join the ranks of Northern Ireland’s leading layouts.  The original course opened in 1908, was largely reinvented by the great Willie Park in the early 1920’s, then updated again in the 1980s.  Next after a healthy investment to acquire a range of massive, untouched sand dunes called “Thistly Hollow”, seven outstanding new holes were constructed that make for an opening nine considered one of the best in links golf. Please note a very limited supply of golf carts are available for hire. Certain restrictions may apply, please advise your Golf Travel Specialist.

  • Day 6 Royal Portrush - Dunluce

Golf on Royal Portrush - Dunluce Links (tbc).  Northern Ireland’s Royal Portrush (Est 1888) is routinely ranked among the World Top 15 and never less than fifth among the great clubs of the UK and Ireland.  It is the only club outside of Great Britain to host The Open which it has done twice; in 1951 and 2019.  Harry Colt is largely responsible for the current layout which opened in 1932.  He chose the high ground on magnificent dunes land the club had acquired for two courses that was full of deep valleys, long ridges and large plateaus. His achievement here is how the holes follow the sand formations and the greens which are some of the most cleverly conceived in golf. Changes were made in advance of The 148th Open that included two new holes, the exceptional 7th and 8th, which turned the old 17th and 18th into a staging ground for the championship.

Frequently Asked Questions

To help you decide, we've compiled answers to common questions about our Custom Tours. Curious about itineraries, accommodations, or logistics? Our FAQs cover it all. For personalized advice, our Golf Travel Experts are ready to assist.

  • How far in advance should I book a trip to ensure best availability?

Our best advice is to decide on your preferred trip and confirm the dates as soon as possible, for everything is a component of availability. If you are traveling during high season, the golf courses can have significant demand and sooner we are able to submit your groups request for tee times and similarly to the hotels, the likelihood of securing your exact, preferred schedule is enhanced.

  • What is the optimum size of a group?

Every group has different dynamics but we believe that groups of 8 travelers are more preferred, for two reasons; (1) a group of 8 people remains small enough that everyone can interact with each other easily and (2) in terms of access to golf tee times and hotel arrangements we have found this size of group to be the easiest to accommodate. Of course, we are delighted to assist with groups of 2 to 150 travelers.

  • When is the best time to travel?

    It varies by destination. High season (for golf) is as follows;

    • Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, France & Italy
      April – October.
During the summer season you will enjoy the best possible chance of good weather. However Britain does experience changeable, unpredictable weather year round and it is therefore best to anticipate.

    • New Zealand & Australia
      September – April
Peak season is December - February/March

    • Spain, Portugal & South Africa
      January - December
South Africa is attractive all year round. Many prefer to visit from October - March. The summer months in the south of Spain and Portugal can be very hot and the condition of the courses deteriorates. Therefore the peak seasons in Spain and Portugal would be April – June & September – November.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Checks, MasterCard, VISA or wire transfer/ACH

  • Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly suggest and offer an attractive travel protection program. This information is described on the reservations forms.

  • When will I receive final travel information?

We ordinarily distribute final travel information 21 days in advance of departure. This includes all hotel contact details for your trip along with other pertinent information.

  • Can I ship my golf clubs ahead of me to my destination?

If you would prefer to send your golf clubs, and indeed any luggage in advance to your destination to avoid checked baggage hassles, PerryGolf is pleased to recommend Luggage Forward, the leading provider of doorstep to destination luggage delivery to over 200 countries worldwide. Upon your return, Luggage Forward can have your baggage picked up at your hotel, golf course or cruise port and delivered back home (or can send your clubs back if you are staying on to travel but the golfing portion of your trip is done).

As a client of PerryGolf you are entitled to a 10% discount on any Luggage Forward delivery. For price quotes or to book a delivery, visit www.luggageforward.com/perrygolf. To speak with a Forwarding Specialist, please call 866.416.7447 and remember to reference promo code PERRY10 when booking over the phone. Luggage Forward recommends booking at least a couple weeks prior to your trip to ensure you receive all available service options.

Please note: In order to complete an international delivery, you will need to provide travel documents as required by customs.

  • Can you assist with dinner suggestions?

PerryGolf provides a dining guide with the information you receive in your Final Travel Documents prior to travel.
