Your Itinerary

Located on the edge of the picturesque Sheephaven Bay, Rosapenna is the proud home to two of the finest links in the world. The Old Tom Morris Links designed by Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews in 1893 and a modern great in the Sandy Hills Links laid out by Pat Ruddy of The European Club fame.  With a luxury hotel on site Rosapenna is the perfect venue for a golfing break or just a quiet getaway in this beautiful corner of Donegal.  Tranquil lounges and elegant dining areas overlooking the bay combine to set the ambience. A choice of bedrooms ranging from standard to deluxe with sea views provide the comforts and style one would expect from a hotel with such history. This is a haven of tranquillity where you can recharge after a day on the links or simply escape from the pressures of modern-day living.

<Day 5 ~ Rosapenna Golf Links

Today play Rosapenna - St Patrick's Links (tbc).  Designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2021.  A sprawling links that is destined to become a modern great. It sits on the most magnificent piece of links land, west coast of Ireland scenery, with enough variety in dimension to present a real diversity of golf holes. The routing takes golfers on a journey through huge dunes, to high above Sheephaven Bay, along the coast, then back over some more gentle dunes.  With plenty of width and an eclectic mix of naturalised bunkers, the course is destined to become a must play.

image

<Day 6 ~ Rosapenna Golf Links

Today play Rosapenna - Sandy Hills Links (tbc).  In many ways, the ideal of a modern links. Designed by Pat Ruddy and intended for the serious golfer, its narrow fairways appear constricting from the tee, but the landing areas sculpted from the dunes are deceptively wide. Measuring a hefty 7,255 yards from the tips, but a more manageable test of 6,356 yards from the white tees. Above all, the appeal of Sandy Hills lies in its beautifully balanced routing through the high dunes. Please note a very limited supply of golf carts are available for hire. Certain restrictions may apply, please advise your Golf Travel Specialist.

Golf Schedule

County Sligo image

Breathtaking scenery and a phenomenal mix of golf holes blend nicely at County Sligo at Rosses Point. On the shores of Drumcliffe Bay, with the Ox Mountains in the distance, golfers play a course on rolling terrain that has challenged legends of the game from Byron Nelson to Rory McIlroy. The legendary American Tom Watson described the par-4 No. 14 as one of his favorites, while the strong quartet of par-3s aren’t overly long in distance but demand precise shots.

Enniscrone - The Dunes image

Set along the scenic west coast of Ireland in County Sligo on a promontory that juts into Killala Bay, the Dunes at Enniscrone is a true Irish links. Hackett used the natural contours and the majestic landscape to craft this design. Altogether, 12 of the 18 holes wind through the shaggy dunes that border the coast. The course culminates with a magnificent stretch of four holes running parallel to the Atlantic Ocean. A sharp bump-and-run game is useful here.
Narin & Portnoo image

The course is situated in the beautiful seaside resort of Portnoo in South West Donegal. It is considered to be one of the finest natural links courses in Ireland, and is certainly one of the most scenic with views out to Aranmore Island and Croghy Head. Under new ownership in 2018 the links has been upgraded with the project entrusted to Gil Hanse and his team.  The changes being implemented will elevate Narin & Portnoo into one of the finest links courses in the country.

Rosapenna - St Patrick's Links image

Designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2021.  A sprawling links that is destined to become a modern great. It sits on the most magnificent piece of links land, west coast of Ireland scenery, with enough variety in dimension to present a real diversity of golf holes. The routing takes golfers on a journey through huge dunes, to high above Sheephaven Bay, along the coast, then back over some more gentle dunes.  With plenty of width and an eclectic mix of naturalised bunkers, the course is destined to become a must play.

Rosapenna - Sandy Hills Links image

Considered the ideal modern links, each hole cuts directly through the dunes and provides spectacular views that might ease the sting from a bad score or two. The fairways appear narrow from the teeing ground, but are actually fair and wide, even generous in spots. Many tees and greens are elevated as the holes run north and south across the property. Holes 6-thru-13 are the meat of the course, and the par-3 7th is memorable for its tiny green..
Ballyliffin - Glashedy image

Often called the “Dornoch of Ireland” because of its location on the country’s extreme northern tip, this links poses a challenge that makes golfers glad they travelled the extra miles. Fantastic panoramic views of countryside and coastline are available throughout the property, Glashedy Rock sits just offshore and it’s easy to see why Glashedy has earned the reputation as Ireland’s hidden gem. Ruddy, one of the co-architects, treated this as his masterpiece throughout the years, often returning to polish and enhance an aspect.
Ballyliffin - Old image

The course as we know today was opened for play in 1973. True links course with natural grasses and strategic bunkering. Avoiding the pot bunkers that lurk in the fairways is a key component of managing the course - and escaping with your score in tact. A fine layout which provides a stern test for golfers of all skill levels. The back nine features a fantastic stretch of holes bordering the ocean with stunning views out to Glashedy Rock.
