  • Sun, Aug 10 St Andrews - Jubilee Course

Play the Jubilee Course of St Andrews 12:48pm. Built in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, this is perhaps the most underrated of the St Andrews courses. The emphasis is on hitting the narrow fairways, and unlike other St Andrews courses the Jubilee course offers a change in elevation on a number of holes by taking advantage of a few large sand dunes. Initially intended to serve ladies and beginners, the renowned architect Donald Steel elevated the course to championship caliber in 1988.

  • Mon, Aug 11 St Andrews - Old Course

Today challenge the Old Course of St Andrews 10:50am, the ''Home of Golf''. The Old Course has played host to the greatest golfers and produced many of golf's most dramatic moments. Wide double fairways, seven extensive double greens, and a multitude of intimidating bunkers are just some of the unique features you will encounter. Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods each hoisted the Claret Jug here on two occasions. In 1927, Bobby Jones claimed The 62nd Open six years after taking four strokes to escape the Hill Bunker at the 11th and tearing up his scorecard!  No. 17, the “Road Hole”, is always an adventure as is negotiating the Valley of Sin at the short par-4 18th.

  • Tue, Aug 12 Carnoustie

Approximate travel time to your golf course today 50 minutes

Today play Carnoustie 11:50am.  The first record of golf played on this links land dates to 1527.  In 1842, a 10-hole course was designed by Alan Robertson followed by an 18-hole course by Old Tom Morris in 1857.  James Braid extended the layout in 1926 which is essentially the links found today. While it is relatively flat, Carnoustie is exposed to the elements. A combination of length and accuracy are required as golfers face narrow corridors from the tee while approach shots demand precision to greens heavily guarded by steep bunkers and burns. Arguably the toughest finishing holes in championship golf are found here highlighted by the par-4, 476 yard 14th and the 245 yard par-3 16th. Ben Hogan won The 82nd Open at Carnoustie in 1953. Tom Watson and Gary Player also hoisted the Claret Jug here as has Padraig Harrington and mostly recently Francesco Molinari in 2018.

  • Wed, Aug 13 Prestwick Marine Troon

Approximate travel time to your golf course today 2 hours 30 minutes

Play today at Prestwick 12:18pm.   Only the Old Course has hosted The Open more often than Prestwick, the last of 24 played here was in 1925. Eleven of the first twelve Opens were played on Old Tom Morris’ twelve-hole layout beginning in 1860.  Six holes were added in 1883.  One of the club’s great strengths is variety.  There are blind shots.  Uphill holes and those that play downhill and sidehill. Greens in hollows and plateau greens.  Driveable par fours and those you’ll be delighted to reach in two.  Perhaps most famous is “Alps” the 394-yard 17th.  The narrow fairway runs straight up a steep sandhill which hides a generous green guarded in front by the notorious “Sahara” bunker framed with revetted sod and railroad ties interrupted only by wooden steps to allow you in and out.

Marine Troon - 1 x Marine Room for Single Use, 3 x Marine Seaview King Twins, 1 x Marine Seaview Room for Single Use

  • Thu, Aug 14 Royal Troon

Play Royal Troon 1:50pm.   Royal Troon is a course in the current Open rota.  Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Tom Weiskopf (his only win in a major) have won here as did Henrik Stenson whose Sunday round of 63 outlasted Phil Mickelson’s 65 to claim The 145th Open.  It is a long links course but it is consistently praised for its testing but fair set up. Troon boasts both the longest and the shortest holes among Open venues, being the “Postage Stamp” 8th at 126 yards, and the 6th at 601 yards named “Turnberry”.  The layout gives you a chance to find your game with a gentle opening but the inward nine is considered one of the most difficult sides in major championship golf.

Frequently Asked Questions

To help you decide, we've compiled answers to common questions about our Custom Tours. Curious about itineraries, accommodations, or logistics? Our FAQs cover it all. For personalized advice, our Golf Travel Experts are ready to assist.

  • How far in advance should I book a trip to ensure best availability?

Our best advice is to decide on your preferred trip and confirm the dates as soon as possible, for everything is a component of availability. If you are traveling during high season, the golf courses can have significant demand and sooner we are able to submit your groups request for tee times and similarly to the hotels, the likelihood of securing your exact, preferred schedule is enhanced.

  • What is the optimum size of a group?

Every group has different dynamics but we believe that groups of 8 travelers are more preferred, for two reasons; (1) a group of 8 people remains small enough that everyone can interact with each other easily and (2) in terms of access to golf tee times and hotel arrangements we have found this size of group to be the easiest to accommodate. Of course, we are delighted to assist with groups of 2 to 150 travelers.

  • When is the best time to travel?

    It varies by destination. High season (for golf) is as follows;

    • Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, France & Italy
      April – October.
During the summer season you will enjoy the best possible chance of good weather. However Britain does experience changeable, unpredictable weather year round and it is therefore best to anticipate.

    • New Zealand & Australia
      September – April
Peak season is December - February/March

    • Spain, Portugal & South Africa
      January - December
South Africa is attractive all year round. Many prefer to visit from October - March. The summer months in the south of Spain and Portugal can be very hot and the condition of the courses deteriorates. Therefore the peak seasons in Spain and Portugal would be April – June & September – November.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Checks, MasterCard, VISA or wire transfer/ACH

  • Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly suggest and offer an attractive travel protection program. This information is described on the reservations forms.

  • When will I receive final travel information?

We ordinarily distribute final travel information 21 days in advance of departure. This includes all hotel contact details for your trip along with other pertinent information.

  • Can I ship my golf clubs ahead of me to my destination?

If you would prefer to send your golf clubs, and indeed any luggage in advance to your destination to avoid checked baggage hassles, PerryGolf is pleased to recommend Luggage Forward, the leading provider of doorstep to destination luggage delivery to over 200 countries worldwide. Upon your return, Luggage Forward can have your baggage picked up at your hotel, golf course or cruise port and delivered back home (or can send your clubs back if you are staying on to travel but the golfing portion of your trip is done).

As a client of PerryGolf you are entitled to a 10% discount on any Luggage Forward delivery. For price quotes or to book a delivery, visit www.luggageforward.com/perrygolf. To speak with a Forwarding Specialist, please call 866.416.7447 and remember to reference promo code PERRYGOLF when booking over the phone. Luggage Forward recommends booking at least a couple weeks prior to your trip to ensure you receive all available service options.

Please note: In order to complete an international delivery, you will need to provide travel documents as required by customs.

  • Can you assist with dinner suggestions?

PerryGolf provides a dining guide with the information you receive in your Final Travel Documents prior to travel.
