The Authentic Collection - PerryGolf.com

This six-night, five-round package explores some of Scotland's most hidden gems which are sure to offer a heartfelt welcome and memorable Scottish golfing experience. It’s available from April to October. Founded in 1889 and originally designed by Old Tom Morris, the Old Course at Moray Golf Club holds its own with the best links courses in Scotland. Tee it up at Royal Dornoch, the most northerly championship layout in the United Kingdom, and the home of legendary architect Donald Ross is considered the ultimate ‘thinking golfer’s course.’  Nairn, like so many courses in the region, traces its roots to descendants Old Tom Morris and James Braid, along the shores of Moray Firth, 20 miles northeast of Inverness. Continue south to Western Gailes, a hidden gem, presenting a stiff wind-driven challenge along the dunes. Finally, play Prestwick - host to the first playing of The Open in 1860.  Deluxe accommodations are available at Kingsmills Hotel and Marine Troon.

Your Itinerary

Originally a Scottish mansion house, the Kingsmills Hotel is set in 4 acres of beautiful gardens and is just one mile from Inverness city centre. The hotel presents a seamless blend of style and substance, proud of a reputation for warmth of welcome, traditional values of service, yet, flexible to the needs of today's business executive. Rooms are spacious and if you need to work in your room, there’s plenty worktop space for papers and laptops and high speed wifi is available throughout. Fine foods from exciting menus sourced locally served in the restaurant or the garden conservatory are complimented by an excellent wine list and a large selection of single malt whiskies. In 2010 saw the opening of the stand alone Kingsclub and Spa. Small and very select with 37 bedrooms with a choice of Cocoon or Retreat luxury air-conditioned bedrooms, a beauty spa, mezzanine lounge, business centre, massage suites, relaxation area, nail salon, green space, golf course views, exclusive bar and restaurant all with a city centre location. In the club spirit the bar is exclusive to guests of The Kingsclub; informal and peaceful it's a cocktail before dinner or dissect the day's sucesses on the golf course. Jump on our golf buggy and relax over dinner in our Inglis Restaurant or Conservatory Brasserie in the Kingsmills Hotel.

<Day 3 ~ Moray Golf Club

Today play Moray - Old Course (tbc).  The Old Course at Moray Golf Club holds its own with the best links courses in Scotland. Founded in 1889 and originally designed by Old Tom Morris, the layout features a formidable collection of par fours and as much gorse in play as you’ll find anywhere which is a sight to see when the blooms appear in early summer.  The course begins and ends in Lossiemouth with one of the most celebrated home holes in the country.  With bunkers left and out of bounds right, the unusual uphill approach demands your best drive of the day.  Please note a very limited supply of golf carts are available for hire. Certain restrictions may apply, please advise your Golf Travel Specialist.

<Day 4 ~ Royal Dornoch Golf Club

Golf today on Royal Dornoch (tbc).  An hour north of Inverness, along a crescent shaped stretch of the Dornoch Firth is a narrow strip of softly contoured dune land rising on two distinctive levels, providing just enough room for fairways framed by heather and gorse. It is here where Royal Dornoch was founded in 1877.  Old Tom Morris extended the layout to 18 holes in 1886 which has been modified over the years to produce a layout consistently ranked today among the world’s top 20.  MacKenzie & Ebert improved four holes and built a new 7th.  The club was Donald Ross’ famous inspiration for raised, domed greens.  A very limited supply of golf carts are available for hire. Certain restrictions may apply, please advise your Golf Travel Specialist.

<Day 5 ~ Nairn Golf Club

Play today at Nairn (tbc).  Nairn was among the first of the Highlands courses to make an international name for itself when it hosted the Walker Cup in 1999. It has gone on to host the British Amateur and the Curtis Cup.  Founded in 1887 on an elevated piece of linksland overlooking the Moray Firth, an all-star collection of architects have had a hand in the layout including Old Tom Morris and James Braid.  Most recently, the club commissioned MacKenzie & Ebert for a major modernization including numerous new greens, bunkers and tees.  The result capitalizes on what are some of the very best turf conditions in Scotland – a Nairn trademark.

Your Itinerary

The 4-star Marine Hotel is a grand building with magnificent views over the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, overlooking Royal Troon Golf Course. Built-in 1894, The Marine Hotel was designed by notable Glaswegian architects Salmon and Gillespie and is a significant landmark in Troon. Now newly refurbished, it features subtle Scottish themes, fabrics and textures all laced with the history of the building and surrounding area.

<Day 6 ~ Western Gailes Golf Club

Play today at Western Gailes (tbc).   Western Gailes is rated by many visitors to Scotland as one of its best keep secrets and immensely enjoyable. The course lies between the railway and the sea like many others in Ayrshire. Its only two holes wide, with nine played along the sea and nine played beside the railway.  Variety gives Western its special character.  The seaside holes are routed through classic links land with dunes, high grass and the beach. These are arguably more difficult than the inland holes which are slightly longer with heavier bunkering.  Your caddie here will often be a club member who typically cannot resist sharing the club’s story with visitors. You will enjoy a special day here.

<Day 7 ~ Prestwick Golf Club

Play today at Prestwick (tbc).   Only the Old Course has hosted The Open more often than Prestwick, the last of 24 played here was in 1925. Eleven of the first twelve Opens were played on Old Tom Morris’ twelve-hole layout beginning in 1860.  Six holes were added in 1883.  One of the club’s great strengths is variety.  There are blind shots.  Uphill holes and those that play downhill and sidehill. Greens in hollows and plateau greens.  Driveable par fours and those you’ll be delighted to reach in two.  Perhaps most famous is “Alps” the 394-yard 17th.  The narrow fairway runs straight up a steep sandhill which hides a generous green guarded in front by the notorious “Sahara” bunker framed with revetted sod and railroad ties interrupted only by wooden steps to allow you in and out.
