Play the Ailsa Course at Trump Turnberry. The course has undergone a redevelopment and reopened with a stunning new layout in June 2016. Lying on a spectacular curve of rockbound coast in the southern reaches of Ayrshire. The course now makes the most of the coastal scenery especially from the 4th through the 11th passing the famous landmark lighthouse at the turn, which is now a stunning halfway house. This is a demanding links course, and an ever present wind will make for a tough examination of your golfing skills. In 2009, the Ailsa Course hosted the Open Championship for the 4th time when golfing legend Tom Watson lost out to Stewart Cink in a play off for the Claret Jug.

Golf today on the New Course, St Andrews rated by many as the toughest of the St. Andrews Courses. Laid out by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1895. A great emphasis is placed on hitting the fairways as several holes have been carved through blankets of gorse bushes.

A long and demanding links, Troon unusually boasts both the longest and the shortest holes in Open Championship golf, being the Postage Stamp 8th at 126 yards, and the 6th at 577 yards 6th named Turnberry. The inward nine is considered the most difficult side in the Open rota. Henrik Stenson outdueled Phil Mickelson in an epic battle in the 2016 Open Championship played in excellent scoring conditions.

The course underwent a significant renovation and opened as a new layout in June 2016. Lying on a spectacular curve of rockbound coast in the southern reaches of Ayrshire. St Andrews - New Course image

Several holes at the oldest ‘New’ course in the world have been carved through punitive gorse, so accurate tee shots are required. Set in contrast to the Old Course, this Old Tom Morris design includes undulating fairways and severely sloped greens to put on display a fine test of links golf. The 17th can be a make-or-break par-3 coming home. It measures 229 yards from the back tees, forcing golfers to combine power and precision to find the green in regulation.

Important Information

Changes: After deposits have been received and confirmation has been issued, any changes requested by the client are subject to an administrative fee of $50.00 per change per person in addition to any charges which may be made by suppliers for cancellations. In most cases, changes cannot be made less than 60 days before travel.

Handicap Certificate: Most courses require visitors to be a member of a recognized golf club and to hold official handicaps, with some courses imposing a maximum handicap restriction. PerryGolf endorses this viewpoint and recommends that players travel with a valid handicap certificate from their golf club which they may be required to produce.

Golf Cart & Caddie Options: No caddies are available for hire in Spain & Portugal. Golf Carts are available at all venues and we recommend carts are booked in advance through your PerryGolf Golf Travel Specialist to guarantee availability. All carts fees are payable locally at each course by card or cash in local currency. If you prefer to walk, either with a pull cart or carrying your own bag then this option exists at most courses but we strongly recommend golf carts for certain courses, where the terrain is unsuitable, and/or walks between tee and green are too extreme. We are happy to assist in our recommendations for carts versus walking.
