the beautiful beaches of Port Elizabeth and the Addo Elephant National Park, which is the only location in the world that’s home to each of Africa’s “Big 7” animals. The golf is equally diverse. Durban has been a regular host of the South Africa Open and is a links style layout offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course Pearl Valley is set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, and is a treat to play.

Pre and Post-Cruise Land Extensions

We also offer exceptional pre and post-cruise opportunities; In advance of the cruise join us to fly directly into the magnificent Kruger National Park to experience safari at its absolute finest, with accommodations at the fabled Jock Safari Lodge. We also play South Africa’s #2 rated course Leopard Creek set on the southern boundary of the park. Following the cruise we fly to George to stay at the world renowned Fancourt with golf on both courses, The Links at Fancourt and Montagu, plus the equally dramatic Pinnacle Point. As with our golf cruise the pre and post-cruise packages are highly amenity inclusive.

Azamara Pursuit which serves as our perfect floating boutique hotel and clubhouse, is a small-sized luxury vessel nimble enough to access smaller ports yet large enough to provide every amenity you would expect, from a choice of fine dining and live entertainment to a well-equipped gym and full-service spa. Forty-six suites are available with English butler style service which routinely book early. Sailing schedules often include extended stays in port plus the occasional overnight which creates a truly immersive experience. Better still, these cruises are inclusive of a selection of beer, spirits, soft drinks, bottled water, specialty coffees plus wine with lunch and dinner along with gratuities for housekeeping, dining and bar staff. Azamara also proudly boasts two unique signature events on each cruise - AzAmazing Evening℠ and the White Night party – complimentary to all guests and consistently well received.

Every aspect of the golf program is fully managed by PerryGolf staff onboard and ashore. Your clubs will be ready and waiting at each venue. Tee times and pairings arranged and posted in advance. A convenient transportation schedule allows suitable time to warm up at the range, and to make the almost inevitable pro shop merchandise purchase. Carts are always included, subject to availability. A friendly competition is staged at a selected course, with prizes awarded at our farewell gathering. A snack lunch is included on-course plus an open bar operates in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the round. Our typical guest list which brings together like-minded individuals, generally numbers between 40 and 50, with new friendships invariably formed during each cruise. Many guests are golfing couples but an equal number are golfers travelling with a non-golfing spouse. Specially arranged onboard golf group social functions, to which all accompanying non-golfing spouses are most warmly welcomed, further enhances the club-like environment. The award winning Azamara Shore Excursions® program, offering a wide variety of offship excursions, also caters beautifully our non-golfing guests during days when our golfing excursions are underway.

JANUARY 17, WEDNESDAY: PORT ElIZABETH, SOUTH AFRICA (7:00AM / 8:00PM)

GOLF: Humewood Golf Club was considered the top course in South Africa by the legendary countryman, professional Bobby Locke during his prime in the 1930s and 40s. A genuine seaside links, Humewood has played host to the South African Open and South African Amateur on many occasions and Ernie Els is a past champion of the Goodyear Classic, held at the course from 1984-1992. The greens were converted to bent grass in 2009 and the result was consistently magnificent putting surfaces.

SIGHTSEEING: Port Elizabeth is known for its supreme natural beauty, specifically the pristine beaches and vast areas for unsurpassed game watching. Take a stroll and enjoy the views from the stunning Storms River Bridge. Visit the Seaview Lion Park or make a trip to the Addo National Elephant Park, which is the only place in the world that’s home to each of Africa’s Big 7 - lion, buffalo, leopard, the endangered black rhino, elephant, Great White Shark and Southern Right Whale.

JANUARY 18, THURSDAY: EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA (7:30AM / 5:00PM)

GOLF: East London Golf Club has been one of South Africa’s favorite championship venues for decades. <Humewood

Enamored with the Old Course at St. Andrews, the architect Colonel S.V. Hotchkin set out to emulate the links layout when hired in 1929 to design Humewood. The Colonel put a twist on the familiar links of the British Isles, however, straying from the nine holes out, nine holes in routing and angling holes in every direction. This creates a fascinating experience atop the sand dunes of Algoa Bay, as golfers battle cross breezes, avoiding steep-faced bunkers and maneuvering along the firm turf.
image

<Zimbali

Designed by former British Open Champion, Tom Weiskopf. The course is both challenging and superbly beautiful, made more so by the proximity to the Indian Ocean. The course is spread over a large estate with dramatic elevation changes. Weiskopf did a tremendous job routing the holes through the jungle. There are several blind tee shots that could be unsettling to the first time visitor, however, Weiskopf ably allowed ample room in most fairways to enable the golfer to be in position to play the hole.
image

<Durban

In any golfer's books, Durban Country Club rates as one of the finest courses in the world, let alone Africa, or even South Africa. The course lies adjacent to the beach onto which the Indian Ocean gently pushes its waves, separated only by a freeway linking the Northern suburbs with the city. It has a merry mix of tall trees, thick bush, severe slopes, undulating fairways that sometimes resemble rolling waves, and some very clever tee positions, with the ever penalizing bunkers lying in wait.
image

<Pearl Valley

Set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is a treat to play. Pearl Valley is considered one of the top conditioned courses. As with many Nicklaus courses, water on the right with plenty of sand, will keep the golfers minds off the wide landing areas provided. The course and it's geographical location allow for guests to enjoy a day outing in the Winelands with high quality golf to compliment the food and wine.
image

<Leopard Creek

Situated near Malelane in the heart of Mpumalanga, on the southern border of the Kruger National Park, Leopard Creek presents a rare opportunity to play an outstanding bushveld golf course. The 360 hectare development is bordered to the north and the west by the picturesque Crocodile River and the Kruger National Park. The course is remotely located and is therefore only recommended for clients looking to add a safari option in Southern Kruger or those using private air-charter services.

image

<Fancourt - The Links

The Links, a privately owned club that sits alongside Fancourt, is the No. 1 ranked course in South Africa and is included in the Top 100 courses outside the USA. Over 700,000 cubic metres of earth were moved to transform the old George Airport into an incredible Links style course. The course presents undulating windswept terrain and dune-style landscape that is always in immaculate condition. The Links presents a stern test in all weather conditions. It is the Host course of the 2003 Presidents Cup, 2005 Women's World Cup and 2006 South African Open along with other European Tour events.

image

<Pinnacle Point

The renowned architect Peter Matkovich put it best, describing the property at Pinnacle Point by saying, ‘this is the most dramatic golf course site I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world.’ It’s difficult to argue with his assessment. Set high above the Indian Ocean, providing sensational, breathtaking views of the crystal blue water from across the course, this is truly a magnificent and memorable design. In all seven holes run parallel to the ocean shore. The home hole is a fierce risk-reward par-5.
image

<Fancourt - The Montagu

Designed by Gary Player and remodeled in 2004 by David McLay-Kidd (Bandon Dunes), the Montagu is one of South Africa's best parkland golf courses. With the highest levels of conditioning and true championship layout, this tree-lined and challenging course over rolling terrain leaves a positive lasting impression on all who play here. The 8th hole is a delightful par-3 measuring 182 yards, entirely over water. The Montagu at Fancourt sets the standards by which all other courses in South Africa are measured.
image

<East London

East London Golf Club has been one of South Africa’s favorite championship venues for decades. It has hosted six National Opens, the European Tour and the National Amateur counting the likes of Els, Schwartzel and Oosthuizen among the winners here. The club was originally founded in 1893. Today it is a coastal gem, opened in 1923, with a wonderful mix of parkland and links holes typically played to elevated greens. No. 9, The Glades, is particularly memorable. After a 50 yard walk through a tunnel of bush, you reach an elevated tee that begs for a bomb. Catching the slope makes all the difference for your approach with a middle iron played slightly uphill to a green protected by thick brush on all sides.

Important Information

Golf Handicap Limit: The golf courses we play around the world offer varying challenges. Players often require to be of a certain standard to properly and fully experience them in the company of likeminded fellow golfers. We therefore set a maximum permitted golf handicap to participate on our tours and cruises; The maximums are 28 for men and 36 for ladies.

Golf Courses: The included list may be subject to change in the event of any club accepting any conflicting national or international event, or for any other reason. Should such a situation occur, PerryGolf will endeavour to book a course of comparable standard, and all booked guests would be notified of the change and replacement venue at the earliest opportunity.

Transfers: No transfers are included to or from the ship at arrival/departure airports.
