PerryGolf is proud to partner with Azamara® for an exceptional 11-night, 5-round golf and sightseeing voyage around the spectacular coastline of Scotland.  This cruise with less than 700 guests onboard the outstanding Azamara Quest has the added benefit of starting in Oslo and concluding in Dublin, allowing an opportunity to also spend time in these great European cities.

Our time in Scotland takes in Edinburgh, Aberdeen plus Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands, and a number of the country’s most storied islands including Shetland, Orkney, and Lewis, and also includes a call at the great maritime city of Liverpool.  Our golf lineup is as strong and revered as you will find anywhere; Dumbarnie, Cruden Bay, Castle Stuart, and Royal Birkdale plus for some additional enjoyment we will experience golf in the Orkney Islands at Orkney Golf Club, a fun and sporting layout, and one of the world’s most northerly venues  ...

Azamara Quest, which serves as our perfect floating boutique hotel and clubhouse, is a small-sized luxury vessel nimble enough to access smaller ports yet large enough to provide every amenity you would expect, from a choice of fine dining and live entertainment, to a well-equipped gym and full-service spa.  Forty-six suites are available with English butler style service which routinely book early.  Sailing schedules often include extended stays in port plus the occasional overnight which allows for a truly immersive experience.  Better still, these cruises are inclusive of a selection of beers, spirits, soft drinks, bottled water, specialty coffees plus wine with lunch and dinner along with gratuities for housekeeping, dining and bar staff.  Azamara also proudly boasts two unique signature events on each cruise – an AzAmazing Evening℠ and the White Night party – complimentary to all guests and consistently well received.

Every aspect of the golf program is fully managed by PerryGolf staff onboard and ashore. Your clubs will be ready and waiting at each venue. Tee times and pairings arranged and posted in advance. A convenient transportation schedule affords suitable time to warm up at the range, and to make the almost inevitable pro shop merchandise purchase. Caddies are included (excluding caddie gratuity) for all our guests. A friendly competition is staged at a selected course, with prizes awarded at our farewell gathering.  A snack lunch is included on-course plus an open bar operates in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the round.  Our typical guest list which brings together like-minded individuals generally numbers between 40 and 50, with new friendships invariably formed during each cruise. Many guests are golfing couples but an equal number are golfers travelling with a non-golfing spouse.  Specially arranged onboard golf group social functions, to which all accompanying non-golfing spouses are most warmly welcomed, further enhances the club-like environment.  The award winning Azamara Shore Excursions® program, offering a wide variety of off ship excursions, also caters beautifully to our non-golfing guests during days when our golfing excursions are underway.

The “2024 Scottish Links & Islands Golf Cruise” is a genuinely full-featured vacation and a special opportunity to enjoy yourself in the company of like-minded new friends!

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 14, WEDNESDAY: EDINBURGH (LEITH) (8:00AM / IN PORT)

GOLF: Today play Dumbarnie Links the dramatic and exciting new kid on the Scottish golf landscape.  Located 9 miles south of St Andrews, the layout plays over 345 acres, part of the 5,000-acre Balcarres Estate held by Lord Anthony Balniel and his family since the 16th century.  Designed by Clive Clark, a member of the 1973 Great Britain and Ireland Ryder Cup team, the site is highlighted by a mile and a half of sea frontage featuring panoramic views over the Firth of Forth.  Its dual elevations, which are connected by a flowing escarpment, provide a number of elevated tees where holes play directly towards the sea.

SIGHTSEEING: Edinburgh - the inspiring capital of Scotland - is a historic, cosmopolitan and cultured city. The setting is striking; a city perched on a series of extinct volcanoes and rocky crags which rise from the generally flat landscape of the Lothians with the sheltered shoreline of the Firth of Forth to the north. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city-center and from its ramparts you can look down on medieval lanes that hold over a thousand years of history, mystery and tradition. You will also see a modern, dynamic capital where international festivals attract the world's leading performers, galleries display cutting-edge art, and bars, restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinctly Scottish twist. No visit to Edinburgh would be complete without a walk up the Royal Mile, which stretches from the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen's official residence in Scotland, to Edinburgh Castle. The route is lined with tourist shops and pubs but be sure to explore the narrow alleys called closes that lead off the Royal Mile.

Enjoy Edinburgh on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: In Port – Edinburgh (Leith), Scotland

AUGUST 15, THURSDAY: EDINBURGH (LEITH) (IN PORT / 6:00PM)

Enjoy another full day in Scotland’s beautiful capital city!

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 16, FRIDAY: ABERDEEN (8:00AM / 10:00PM)

GOLF: Cruden Bay offers an internationally famous golfing experience – old fashioned links golf at its best – on one of the finest courses in Scotland. Creating unique challenges with greens and fairways hidden between massive dunes, driveable par fours, blind shots and of course gorgeous view of the North Sea.  Cruden Bay is a regular among the world’s top 100 clubs.

SIGHTSEEINGThe harbor city of Aberdeen sits by the North Sea, located between the rivers Dee and Don.  Remote and northerly, Scotland’s third largest city is a surprising gem with distinctive architecture and a cosmopolitan feel.  Aberdeen stands apart from other Scottish cities. You won’t hear Gaelic around these parts, as this bright sunny port more closely resembles a typical English city. Walk the bustling, mile-long Union Street to peruse high-street shops and venture into local independent stores. Explore the spirit of Aberdeen’s maritime history in Footdee - a traditional fishing village full of quirky outbuildings - or one of the many local museums.

Enjoy Aberdeen on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 17, SATURDAY: INVERGORDON (7:30AM / 10:00PM)

GOLF: Today play Castle Stuart Golf Links. One of the newest additions to the links courses of Scotland. Castle Stuart runs along the shores of the Moray Firth to the east of Inverness with wonderful views over to the Black Isle. Six holes hug the shoreline while the remaining holes are played over a terraced slope so views out to sea are ever present. Already included in the World's Top 100.

SIGHTSEEING: Invergordon is the deep-water port for Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands and your gateway to an area of the Highlands known as the “Great Glen.” Travel 20 miles north to the picturesque town of Dornoch to see its sandstone buildings, beautiful domestic gardens and tiny 13th Century cathedral. Ten miles further you’ll find the fairy-tale ancestral home of the Clan Sutherland – Dunrobin Castle – one of the oldest inhabited houses in Scotland, dating back to the 13th century. The stunning formal gardens which run down to the sea are based on those at Versailles and were laid out in the 1850s. Daily displays of the ancient sport of falconry take place in the gardens. Less than an hour south is magnificent Cawdor Castle, the setting for setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The 14th century home of the Thanes of Cawdor is considered one of the most romantic stately homes in the Highlands with its fine collection of rare tapestries, portraits and furniture plus lovely gardens and grounds.

Enjoy Invergordon on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 18, SUNDAY: KIRKWALL, ORKNEY (8:00AM / 8:00PM)

GOLF: Orkney Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of Kirkwall, and is the oldest in the Orkney Islands, having been founded in 1889. This local community club offers a sporting and fun layout of just under 6,000 yards long, and boasts beautiful panoramic views over the Northern Isles, and the town of Kirkwall.

SIGHTSEEING: The 70 islands of Orkney are low lying, a pleasing, gently rolling panorama of fertile fields, heather cloaked moors, and lakes. The red sandstone walls of the imposing St. Magnus Cathedral dominate Kirkwall, the main town, capital, and hub for roads linking east and west. In summer whales and dolphins sport in coastal waters, and tens of thousands of breeding seabirds congregate on sharp seaside cliffs. The early arrival of mankind on this scene can be investigated at Skara Brae, an amazingly well-preserved Neolithic village that was inhabited and already abandoned more than 5,000 years ago.

Enjoy Kirkwall on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

OvernightAt Sea

AUGUST 19, MONDAY: ISLE OF LEWIS (8:00AM / 8:00PM)

Colorful row houses and red-hulled fishing vessels line the shores of the picturesque port set on the edge of the Outer Hebrides. Deeply rooted in tradition, it’s not uncommon to be greeted in Gaelic here.

Listen to the lilt of locals as you dine on fresh-caught seafood and delectable Stornoway smoked salmon. Adventurous palates may also seek out the local delicacy of Stornoway Black Pudding to pair with a strong pint of ale from the Hebridean Brewing Company. Stroll the streets surrounding the harbor to peruse the largest selection of shops outside of the mainland, including independent bookstores, quaint bakeries, and pubs – even an ironmonger.

The gateway to Lewis and Harris Island, Stornoway is a short journey to a natural wonderland of mountains, craggy rocks, moorlands, meadows, and rugged coastlines. Explore the grounds of historic Lews Castle. Walk the hallowed grounds surrounding the ancient Callanish Stones. Watch as skilled craftsmen produce Harris Tweed, a luxury handwoven wool unique to the Island. Or, hop a ferry to neighbouring Skye to tour its breath-taking coast and sip peaty Talisker scotch. Enjoy an authentic Scottish experience in the epicentre of Gaelic culture.

Enjoy Stornoway on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 20, TUESDAY: OBAN (8:00AM / 6:00PM)

Under the craggy emerald peaks of the Scottish Highlands lies a tiny port town with a heart for adventure. Gaelic for “little bay”, Oban is a captivating getaway that fulfils your every dream of Scotland. Dubbed both the Gateway to the Isles and the sea kayaking capital of Scotland; kayaking, boating, and other outdoor endeavours are within easy reach of Oban. Kayak out of the harbour or take one of many ferries to the neighboring isles to spend your day portaging and hiking. River otters, seals, sea lions, porpoise and puffins attract nature lovers to explore the shores of Loch Linnhe and the nearby Scottish Sealife Sanctuary.

The backdrop to both historic and fictional scenes, Oban’s breath-taking landscape has played a key role in some of history’s most famous moments. Explore the magnificent Inveraray Castle, the former home to the Duke of Argyll. Look familiar? This vision in Gothic Revival architecture can also be seen on the popular show Downtown Abbey as the fictional “Duneagle Castle”. Embark on a short train ride along the Highlands aboard the Jacobite Steam Train and be transported into the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Speaking of Jacobites, even the natural beauty of the Highlands can’t conceal the echoes of the country’s tumultuous history, as you walk the hallowed grounds of the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe.

Enjoy Oban on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 21, WEDNESDAY: DOUGLAS, ISLE OF MAN (8:00AM / 8:00PM)

The tiny Isle of Man is filled with entertaining sights and scenery. Douglas' lovely seafront is lined with picturesque hotels and restaurants and can be traversed by horse-drawn trams as it has been since 1876. There's a medieval fortress in Castletown; a ruined castle on the Isle of St. Patrick where tales of Vikings, monks, and a ghost dog abound; and the village of Cregneash, where people live in thatched cottages, speak the native Manx language, and practice traditional trades and crafts. Front gardens on residential streets are a standout, awash in colour and scent.

Enjoy the Isle of Man on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

Overnight: At Sea

AUGUST 22, THURSDAY: LIVERPOOL (7:30AM / 7:00PM)

GOLF: Today play Royal Birkdale; a course which provides a formidable test of links golf with each hole running in valleys between towering sand hills. Royal Birkdale hosted The 137th Open in 2008 when Padraig Harrington lifted the Claret Jug to complete back to back wins. It was of course the site of Arnold Palmer's Open win in 1961. The club also hosted The 146th Open in 2017 won by Jordon Spieth over Matt Kuchar with a sensational finish.

SIGHTSEEING: Liverpool is a UNESCO World Heritage City. It offers a unique mix of contemporary and classic architecture. The city's many exclusive independent boutiques and unique gift shops make it one of the leading retail destinations in England. It is a sports mecca with its Premier League football, Rugby League club, major championship golf at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) and Aintree Racecourse. Best of all, it is home to The Beatles. You can walk down Penny Lane. You can visit Strawberry Field which was a Salvation Army children's home said to be the place that inspired John to become a musician. Visit the site and have your photo taken next to the famous gates.

Enjoy Liverpool on your own or via Azamara Shore Excursions®.

AUGUST 23, FRIDAY: DUBLIN, IRELAND (6:00AM / DISEMBARK AT 9:00AM)

Disembark Azamara Quest at 9:00AM.

Consider remaining onboard for our 10-night, 6-round, 2024 Irish Links Golf Cruise, August 23 – September 3, Dublin – Portsmouth.

Dublin offers a wealth of historic sites dating back to a 1000-year-old Viking village, and as one might expect of the Irish, there is a tale to be told about every one. St. Patrick’s Cathedral is said to have been erected on the site where the saint himself converted pagans in 450 AD. The crown jewels were stolen from Dublin Castle in 1907; an unsolved mystery left to the fictional Sherlock Holmes to decipher. Some pubs, great sources of stories, are almost as old – you can sample a Guinness and the latest lore at The Brazen Head, serving up drink and daydreams for 800 years. Then for a contrast, ride to a stunning view of contemporary Dublin atop a brand new observation wheel.

Golf Schedule

DUMBARNIE GOLF LINKS: ST ANDREWS, SCOTLANDDUMBARNIE GOLF LINKS: ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND

Dumbarnie Links is Scotland’s newest links course which opened for play in 2020 to rave reviews. Its dual elevations, which are connected by a flowing escarpment, provide a number of elevated tees where holes play directly towards the sea. The design incorporates three potentially driveable par-4s along with several holes that present tempting risk/reward opportunities. This course is designed to inspire rather than intimidate golfers. Total yardage will vary from 5,300 to 6,900 yards.

ROYAL BIRKDALE GOLF CLUB: SOUTHPORT, ENGLAND ROYAL BIRKDALE GOLF CLUB: SOUTHPORT, ENGLAND

A course that provides a formidable test of links golf and fully deserves its recognition as a true venue for The Open since joining the rota in 1954. Each hole runs in valleys between towering sandhills. The problems are clearly stated, if you stray from the fairway the buckthorn and scrub can be demanding. Arnold Palmer won the championship here in 1961 which was a significant step toward attracting top American pros to participate. Tom Watson won the Claret Jug here in 1983. Jordan Spieth won in 2017.

Important Information

Golf Handicap Limit: The golf courses we play around the world offer varying challenges. Players often require to be of a certain standard to properly and fully experience them in the company of likeminded fellow golfers. We therefore set a maximum permitted golf handicap to participate on our tours and cruises; The maximums are 28 for men and 36 for ladies.

Golf Courses: The included list may be subject to change in the event of any club accepting any conflicting national or international event, or for any other reason. Should such a situation occur, PerryGolf will endeavour to book a course of comparable standard, and all booked guests would be notified of the change and replacement venue at the earliest opportunity.

Transfers: No transfers are included to or from the ship at arrival/departure airports.
