He took up a golf scholarship at Ohio State University where he played alongside PGA Tour players John Cook and Joey Sindelar and was a member of their 1979 NCAA winning squad. He returned to Scotland where he graduated with a BA in Accounting from Stirling University prior to founding PerryGolf with his brother in 1984. His brother Gordon, who resides in Wilmington NC, serves as Company President of PerryGolf.

He is proud to now be a member of both these fine clubs, in addition to a few others. He captained an 18 year old Rory McIlroy in the 2007 match against a USA side which featured current PGA Tour stars Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Billy Horschel and Webb Simpson.

PerryGolf Co-Founder, Colin DalgleishColin’s travels have taken him to almost every corner of the globe with golf of course playing a large part in this. He has played many of the world’s finest courses, and also some of its most remote and hard to reach venues. He particularly enjoys his travels with PerryGolf groups on our various golf voyages and our hosted tours to far flung lands. He has also served on the Amateur Status and Equipment Standards Committees of the R&A. During his time in golf tourism he has served on the board of Golf Tourism Scotland, and in 2009 received the Lifetime Achievement Award from that body.

This region offers incredible history, culture, food, and shopping, and will deliver a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience to guests fortunate enough to participate. Our embarkation and disembarkation port of Dubai also offers easy air access with nonstop service from many cities of the world. Experience Dubai’s over-the-top opulence at the Burj Al Arab hotel and Gold Souk. In Muscat, visit old town bazaars, sip tea at the elegant Al Bustan Palace Hotel, and head to the desert for off-road fun. Make your way to the Souq Waqif in Doha, the renovated Arabic market quarter. In Abu Dhabi, don’t miss Sheikh Zayed Mosque, an astounding monument that rivals the Taj Mahal. You’ll be impressed by three new museums which opened in 2015-2016: The Louvre, Guggenheim, and Zayed National Museum.

You will enjoy some of the finest golf facilities in the world, with excellent layouts and the highest of service levels. Our planned line-up includes Al Mouj in Muscat, Doha Golf Club and Education City Golf Club in Qatar; Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Beach and the Majlis Course of Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, annual host venue to the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic. Our sailing schedule also ensures you will enjoy quality sightseeing time at these destinations in addition to playing these fine golf courses.

Azamara Quest, which serves as our perfect floating boutique hotel and clubhouse, is a mid-sized luxury vessel nimble enough to access smaller ports yet large enough to provide every amenity you would expect, from a choice of fine dining and live entertainment, to a well-equipped gym and full-service spa. Forty-six suites are available with English butler style service which routinely book early. Sailing schedules often include extended stays in port plus the occasional overnight which allows for a truly immersive experience. Every aspect of the golf program is fully managed by PerryGolf staff onboard and ashore. Your clubs will be ready and waiting at each venue. Tee times and pairings arranged and posted in advance. A convenient transportation schedule affords suitable time to warm up at the range, and to make the almost inevitable pro shop merchandise purchase. Carts are always included, subject to availability. A friendly competition is staged at a selected course, with prizes awarded at our farewell gathering. A snack lunch is included on-course plus an open bar operates in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the round. Our typical guest list which brings together like-minded individuals generally numbers between 40 and 50, with new friendships invariably formed during each cruise. Many guests are golfing couples but an equal number are golfers travelling with a non-golfing spouse. Specially arranged onboard golf group social functions, to which all accompanying non-golfing spouses are most warmly welcomed, further enhances the club-like environment. The award winning Azamara Shore Excursions® program, offering a wide variety of offship excursions, also caters beautifully to our non-golfing guests during days when our golfing excursions are underway.

The “2022 Arabian Gulf Golf Cruise” is a genuinely full-featured vacation and a special opportunity to enjoy yourself in the company of like-minded new friends!

GOLF: Emirates Golf Club, Majlis Course* is annual home to the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic, and enjoys a worthy reputation worldwide as an excellent layout. The course features hundreds of indigenous species of flora and fauna, beautifully complemented by meandering fairways and seven fresh and saltwater lakes. The Majlis which was the first grass course in the Middle East takes its name from the Arabic word for 'meeting place'. One of the most prominent features on the course is the Majlis building itself positioned between the 8th and 9th holes and a Dubai landmark since 1988.

*Play at The Emirates Majlis course will be walking with caddies. It was designed as a walking course. Caddie fees and tips covered by PerryGolf. No carts permitted during this time. Guests who require a golf cart will play The Emirates Faldo Course.

SIGHTSEEING: Dubai may already be mistaken for a movie set featuring a futuristic metropolis, and even greater plans are in the works. Located in the middle of the desert where almost nothing existed 20 years ago, there are so many building projects that foreign construction crews vastly outnumber citizens. Everything is the biggest, tallest, and the first of its kind, including manmade islands shaped like palm trees and the world’s first underwater hotel.  It’s a striking collection of styles, including modern interpretations of ancient architecture. Consider a visit to the top of Burj Khalifa or the Souk Al Bahar, an Arabesque shopping mall located in the heart of the prestigious Downtown Burj Khalifa, on the Old Town Island.

NOVEMBER 18, FRIDAY: MUSCAT, OMAN (7:30AM / IN PORT)

An important trading port between East and West since the first century, Muscat's influence once extended as far as East Africa and Zanzibar. While much of the city’s construction is new, it all displays traditional Arabic stylistic elements, creating a handsome and cohesive whole that incorporates a rich history. Two seemingly invincible mountainside forts from the 1500s flank the palace of the sultan, though today they are both museums. A major highlight is the Muttrah Souq, Muscat's oldest market. Colourful and bustling, it is a fascinating place to browse as well as barter for exotic spices, traditional handicrafts, or gold and frankincense.

One of Doha’s premier highlights is the waterfront promenade Al-Corniche, showcasing Doha Bay, city skyscrapers, and Palm Tree Island. In its efforts to become a regional hub of culture, Doha has also built a number of museums such as the Museum of Islamic Art. In addition to featuring Islamic art from three continents spanning 1,400 years and being designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei, it’s also home to the restaurant IDAM by legendary chef Alain Ducasse.

The Azamara experience is built on four key pillars: destination immersion, extraordinary service, fine cuisine and wine, and wellness and vitality. Few cruise lines offer more overnight stays or as many last night departures so that you may experience each destination to its fullest.

Important Information

Golf Handicap Limit: The golf courses we play around the world offer varying challenges. Players often require to be of a certain standard to properly and fully experience them in the company of likeminded fellow golfers. We therefore set a maximum permitted golf handicap to participate on our tours and cruises; The maximums are 28 for men and 36 for ladies.

Golf Courses: The included list may be subject to change in the event of any club accepting any conflicting national or international event, or for any other reason. Should such a situation occur, PerryGolf will endeavour to book a course of comparable standard, and all booked guests would be notified of the change and replacement venue at the earliest opportunity.

Transfers: No transfers are included to or from the ship at arrival/departure airports.
