Bordeaux and Biarritz regions are located in the southwest of France, a region known for its rich gastronomy as well as the exceptional wines produced in the Bordeaux region. From the Gironde estuary, a long straight coast, except for the notch formed by the basin of Arcachon, extends towards the south. It is the Landes de Gascogne with miles of beaches lined by a vast pine forest. A rugged terrain begins to emerge in the south in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, where Biarritz and Bayonne are the main cities of Basque Country, a territory with strong identity. To the northwest, the Perigord and its forests are full of castles, villages and prehistoric sites like the cave of Lascaux. To the south the Lot et Garonne is dedicated to rural tourism.

In Bordeaux, savor the region’s renowned wines on a visit to Château Pichon Longueville; enjoy a guided tour of the city, rich with 2,000 years of history; discover Vinotherapy which blends hot natural water with the enhancing property of grapes for a revolutionary skin care treatment;

Following our short drive to Biarritz, take a guided tour of The Bassin d'Arcachon (Arcachon Bay), a beautiful nature preserve; explore the city’s fashion boutiques and shopping district; enjoy a tapas tour of San Sebastian. Farther south, relax in a prestige room at Château des Vigiers, a magnificent castle dating back to 1597 located in the beautiful countryside near Bergerac; enjoy dinner at Moutier Thenac, a 19th century farmhouse converted to a traditional restaurant serving local cuisine.

The golf on our Tour includes courses that appeal to golfers of all skill levels. Medoc les Châteaux, a former host course on the European Tour, is carved from the tradition of Scottish links. Golf D'Arcangues is a short but demanding layout (140 slope) offering panoramic views of the Pyrenees mountains. Biarritz Le Phare was designed in the British tradition, borders the Atlantic Ocean and is the second oldest golf course built in France. Château des Vigiers is a relaxing Donald Steel layout winding around the grounds of the castle. Saint Emilion is the gem of the tour. Designed by Tom Doak (Pacific Dunes, Cape Kidnappers), the course flows and unfolds through a valley on undisturbed ground.

If you enjoy combining your love of golf with a passion for travel, you’ll find a relaxing and highly rewarding experience on this Escorted Tour for a party of 24-30. Every aspect is fully managed from the handling of your luggage and equipment to hotel and golf course check ins. Various meals, guided sightseeing, carts / caddies, local taxes, service charges and gratuities (excluding caddies) are included in addition to sandwiches, snacks plus an open bar for beer and wine during our time at each of the golf courses. Best of all, this PerryGolf vacation promises an ideal opportunity to join a group of like-minded new friends.

OVERNIGHT: Regina Hotel – Ocean View Room

This hotel overlooks the Bay of Biarritz, ideally located a little more than 300 yards from Biarritz le Phare golf course as well as the Thalassa Sea & Spa thalassotherapy center and a few steps from the city center. Completed in 1907, Le Regina Biarritz building is one of the town’s architectural jewels.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11: BIARRITZ, FRANCE

GOLF: Biarritz Le Phare (1888) was designed by Willie Dunn in the British tradition and is the second oldest golf course in France. Facing the Atlantic Ocean and the lighthouse, this flat and tireless course offers the best quality of fairways and greens in the region.

SIGHTSEEING SUGGESTION: Explore Biarritz. The refined sophistication of elegant Biarritz is home to big name fashion boutiques that rub shoulders with independent designers, VIPs, celebrities and major events all contribute to the town’s renown. Biarritz is a holiday destination with an exceptional quality of life.

Tonight enjoy dinner at Atelier de Gaztelur in Arcangues. Those who love neo-classical cuisine made from 100% fresh local produce will appreciate the experience. Like a skylight on the kitchen, a glass window reveals the spectacle of an incessant ballet orchestrated by chef Alexandre Bousquet and his team. (Included).

OVERNIGHT: Regina Hotel – Ocean View Room

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12: BIARRITZ, FRANCE

GOLF: This morning play Golf D'Arcangues. Owned by the Arcangues family, living in the region since 1170 (their castle is still on the course) and giving their name to the village, this is a hilly course with many slopes and where strategy requires a large diversity of strokes. Even though the course relatively is short, the bunkers and greens have been carefully designed which is typical of its architect Ronald Fream. Several holes offer panoramic views with the Pyrenees mountains overlooking the region. It is one of the most beautiful courses of Basque country, with a typical clubhouse offering a warm and lively atmosphere.

SIGHTSEEING SUGGESTION: Non-Golfers will enjoy Saint Jean de Luz. The town's fortune has long been linked to its fishing and its port. Since the end of the 19th century, Saint-Jean-de-Luz has been a noteworthy tourist destination since the 19th century. The inhabitants have managed to preserve their heritage while at the same time integrating modern creations. A short walk from the port, "Karrika Handi", or The Great Street, leads you to the church of Saint Jean-Baptiste the oldest part of which dates from the 15th century. Facing St Jean de Luz is Ciboure, the birthplace of composer Maurice RAVEL, and its church Saint Vincent with its fortress-like appearance.

Dinner tonight will be a tapas tour of San Sebastian which is one of the most popular activities for visitors to Pays Basque. Anything can be tapas - paella, croquettes, ham and cheese on toast, truly anything. As long as it is small and served with the beverage of our choice, it is tapas! (Included).

OVERNIGHT: Regina Hotel – Ocean View Room

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13: MONESTIER, FRANCE

After breakfast we travel almost three hours through southwest France to Château des Vigiers. On the way, we’ll sightsee in the Armagnac area before stopping at Ecomusee de l’Armagnac for a tasting visit. Armagnac Tasting Château Garreau is a charming and educational venue situated on nearly 200 acres. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14: MONESTIER, FRANCE

GOLF: Château des Vigiers carves its way through the working plum orchards, vineyards, lakes and oak woods surrounding the Château. This Donald Steel layout is ideal for recreational golfing.

Medoc - Les Chateaux image

Wide fairways bordered by heather, gorse, and broom, entice golfers into the delights of carefully preserved nature. The fast greens, the influence of winds from the Atlantic Ocean, and the technical difficulties of the layout make this championship course a constant challenge. Medoc les Chateaux course is set in the heart of the wine area and the players will have no doubt about that, since each hole is named after a Medoc top vintage and the 150 yards mark is a bottle of wine.

Biarritz Le Phare image

Designed by Willie Dunn, who was the architect of the first golf course to be built in France (Pau, 1856). Biarritz le Phare is the second oldest golf course and is built in the British tradition. Facing the Atlantic ocean and the lighthouse, this flat and tireless course offers the best quality of fairways and greens in the region. Even though the course is short by modern standards, it remains tough due to the clever placement of 75 bunkers and the small greens.

Golf D'Arcangues image

Owned by Arcangues family, inhabitants of the area since 1170 (their castle is still on the course), who gave their name to the village, Arcangues golf course is a hilly course with many slopes where strategy requires a large variety of strokes. Several holes offer a panoramic view on the course with the Pyrenees chain overlooking the area. One of the most beautiful course of Basque country, with a typical clubhouse offering a warm and lively atmosphere.

Chateau des Vigiers image

The course carves its way through the working plum orchards, vineyards, lake and oak woods surrounding the Chateau. The course is ideal for recreational golfing as the fairways are generous and relatively flat. The 9th and 18th holes present interesting challenges avoiding the water hazards on one side and the Chateau on the other. Donald Steel, the course architect, considers the 18th hole as one of the best he ever designed in terms of strategy and setting.

Saint Emilion image

This new course is located near St Emilion and designed by one of the best architects in the world, Tom Doak, this is his first course in Continental Europe.  This exceptional course unfolds in a valley fringed by centenary oak trees and framed by vineyards.  The panoramic view over the course from the club-house is a thrill for any golfer.  With heather, gorse, and burns, this golf course will be among the best in France.
