Golf, Grapes & Grandeur 2018
13 Nights | 7 Rounds | November 5-18
Thanks to New Zealand’s remoteness, it was one of the last major landmasses settled by humans which is estimated to have begun around 1250 AD. We are pleased to report that the Kiwi lifestyle remains wonderfully behind the times as one of the most unspoiled, uncrowded and stress-free nations on Earth. It’s a good place to drop off the grid. It’s also a geological wonderland. New Zealand straddles the Pacific Ocean’s Ring of Fire meaning the landscape is shaped by volcanic activity, seen primarily on the North Island, and plate tectonics which are responsible for the majestic Southern Alps on the South Island.
Our tour includes the best of both islands beginning in Taupo for three nights and two rounds of golf including Wairakei and The Kinloch Club. The area is rich in Māori culture. Next is Napier found in the wine region of Hawke's Bay and home to one of the most extensive collections of art deco architecture in the world. Here we will play the astounding Cape Kidnappers, a Tom Doak creation that gives Cypress Point and Old Head a run for the most spectacular setting in the game. Napier is followed by three nights in New Zealand’s capital of Wellington including golf at Paraparaumu Beach, twelve time host of the country’s Open Championship, and Royal Wellington a seven time Open host.
The final four nights will be enjoyed on the South Island in Queenstown beside Lake Wakatipu in the shadow of the towering Southern Alps. We’ll play sensational Jack’s Point along the lake with the Remarkables mountains as a back drop plus Millbrook Resort by Sir Bob Charles. Sightseeing includes a tour and tasting of the Central Otago wine region plus a thrilling Fly/Cruise/Fly of Milford Sound, Rudyard Kipling’s 8th wonder of the world.
Various meals and private sightseeing tours are included but there are also openings in the schedule for you to explore on your own. Best of all, “Golf, Grapes & Grandeur 2018” is an ideal opportunity to join a group 24-30 like-minded new friends.
