The Torrance Course at the Fairmont, St Andrews

torranceThe Torrance Course at the Fairmont, just outside of St Andrews, is a much underrated course. As the name suggests, it was designed in 2001 by former Ryder Cup Captain, Sam Torrance, and after an impressive refurbishment it reopened in 2009.

A traditional Scottish style links course with riveted bunkers throughout, you’ll be amazed to hear that the course is just ~15 years old as it could easily pass for a 100 year links. At 7,320 yards, but with a variety of tees from which to play, it proves an excellent test of golf for players of all levels.

Having hosted final Open Championship qualifying in 2010 plus the Scottish Senior Open in 2010, 2011 and 2012, it’s already winning the right to host prestigious events. So if you’re staying at the Fairmont St Andrews on your next trip to Scotland, or indeed if you’re just in the area, and looking to add golf, look no further!
