Ryder Cup awarded to France

It was announced on Tuesday that the biggest event in golf, the Ryder Cup, will be contested in France in 2018. This is a historic announcement as it is only the second time the Ryder Cup Matches will be played in Continental Europe. Le Golf National beat off strong opposition from courses in Germany, Holland, Portugal and Spain; but the decision was well-received by all players on the European Tour.

Le Golf National has been home to The French Open – one of the biggest tournaments on the European Tour – for the last 10 years and it is a course which features in most of our PerryGolf trips to France.

I’m sure it will be a very popular destination in 2018!

Davis Love III named US Ryder Cup Captain

Both captains for the 2012 Ryder Cup in Medinah have now been announced and I believe that both are very worthy selections.  The ‘not so’ big secret of Davis Love III’s appointment was announced yesterday and he will lead the US team against Jose Maria Olazabal and the Europeans when the two meet again next year.  As a veteran of 6 Ryder Cups, as a player, and as vice captain to Corey Pavin, Davis is highly qualified for the job of trying to wrestle the Ryder Cup back from Europe.  Click here for more details.
