Even for a legend like Jack Nicklaus, the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles Hotel was a challenge. It had to be special set as it is in the heart of Scotland, and on a site Nicklaus described as “The finest parcel of land in the world I have ever been given to work with.”

Scottish media have reported recently on the significant impact the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles will have on the Scottish economy. While I am generally cynical of government produced figures which are often skewed for political purposes, I can speak knowledgeably about the impact of golf travel to Scotland for 2014.

Ryder Cup Tartan Unveiled at Lochcarron in Selkirk

Ryder Cup Tartan - Scotland First Minister Alex Salmond and Ryder Cup Director Richard HillsThe 2014 Ryder Cup will return to Scotland for play at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course.  European Team Captain Paul McGinley was excited to have some “design input” for the new Ryder Cup Tartan, which this year will be available in ties, scarves, trousers, and kilts.  Scotland First Minister Alex Salmond and Ryder Cup Director Richard Hills revealed the Ryder Cup Tartan at Lochcarron in Selkirk, 40 miles south of East Lothian.
