PerryGolf is pleased to report some exciting news with a new addition to the team in South Africa. His credentials are impeccable, and soon he will be hosting some of our Escorted Tours to this beautiful destination.
Craig Ross has been involved with Professional Golf for the past 35 years. Craig grew up in Zambia, golfing his way through Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa, before moving to his ancestral home in the North of Scotland at age 17. He then spent most of waking moments at Tain and Royal Dornoch Golf Clubs, representing various boy’s teams and competing in amateur tournaments all over the UK. At 19, John Black, Captain of the PGA Scottish region, offered him a position as assistant Professional at Grangemouth GC and allowed him to spend Scottish winters competing on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa.
As his tour career came to an end in 1986, Craig was offered the position Head Professional at the newly built, Gary Player designed, Ruimsig Country Club, West of Johannesburg. After 10 good years, he moved to Cape Town and took up residence as the Head Professional at Royal Cape Golf Club, the oldest club in Africa. Here he enhanced his reputation as a teacher and golf retailer, serving members and the first surge of international golf tourists visiting South Africa.
In 2006, Craig moved back to Johannesburg to take up the post of General Manager at The River Club, the most prestigious private golf club in South Africa, often referred to as our Augusta. Craig has always been an active member of the PGA of SA and served on its Board for 14-years, 9 of which were spent as Chairman. There are few more well connected or knowledgeable golf professionals on the continent of Africa.
