Provence French Riviera (Cannes Nice)
Grasse
Grasse is famous as the world capital of perfumes. Its unique
historic heritage has made it a rare example of well preserved
medieval architecture, while Fragonard, one of its native sons,
made its international culture renowned. Many great perfumes,
including Chanel's renowned N°5 have been developed here.
Saint-Paul de Vence
A tiny Provencal village famous for its painting galleries.
Located between mountains and sea, the medieval village of St
Paul, from its 60 feet rocky outcrop, overlooks the surrounding
landscape, with the Mediterranean sea and the Cap d'Antibes,
the Alps and the Esterel Mountains.
St Paul's landscape, natural site, architecture and buildings
are the third most visited historical site in France.
"The Sun in St Paul is, by far, the most beautiful of the
entire Provence. It is also the country where the best variety
of oranges grow
" (Vauban to Louis XIV. January 7th
1701).
Monte Carlo
A heaven for lovers of luxury and sophistication. The elite
of jewellers, designers and perfumers all have shops here. Some
of the top designers even come to Monaco to find inspiration.
But now only the big names are present in Monaco.
There are also numerous shops and boutiques where visitors can
find either traditional or more unusual gifts. Monte Carlo is
also renowned worldwide for its casino in front of l'Hotel de
Paris
Saint-Tropez

Aix en Provence
Well known for its historic and cultural heritage, Aix is the
very essence of Provence, that enchanted land of sunshine. Basking
in Mediterranean warmth, the former Capital of Provence is famous
for its festivals all year long. In addition to the richness
of monuments such as Saint-Sauveur Cathedral or Pavillon de
Vendôme, the influence of the renowned impressionist painter
Cézanne who lived in Aix for years, is strongly present
through the Granet Museum and Cézanne studio.
Featuring many 17th century private mansions, Aix dazzles the
visitors with the murmur of old fountains and the scents of
thyme or olive oil. Relaxing with a cool pastis on a shady café
terrace lining the famous Cours Mirabeau is a perfect illustration
of Provencal way of life.
Sightseeing
in Les Baux de Provence, a magnificent and historical
village, featuring an incredibly rich architectural heritage.
Perched on a rocky spur, the citadel overlooks the Provencal
landscape. Classified within "site remarquable du goût"
and "Plus Beaux Villages de France", Les Baux de Provence
is also the site of an old castle with Sarrasine and Paravelle
towers. Not to be missed is the exhibition of siege equipments
(giant catapult, ballista, battering ram, etc) dating from early
centuries.
