Ireland - Dromoland has announced a £2.5 million redesign of their golf course by Ron Kirby, Roddy Carr & Joe Carr. This trio also was also responsible for the spectacular Old Head Course. The project will take place over three years to allow nine holes to be open for play at all times. Also, it is planned for all rooms will have Internet access by June 1, 2001.Hayfield Manor added 35 new luxury rooms last summer .And congratulations to the luxurious Killarney Park Hotel for being named Ireland's Golf Hotel of the Year by The Irish Golf Tour Operators Association.The course at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links has made alterations over the winter months to the 1st, 4th & 7th holes. Stan Eby of European Golf Design (architect of the course) and Fintan Brennan, the course superintendent, have added water hazards and new and higher mounding has further enhanced the challenge and adds to the aesthetics of the layout.
Scotland The big news at Turnberry is the opening of the Kintyre Course. Donald Steel worked his architectural genius on redesigning the old Arran Course incorporating a new section of land to give some spectacular holes along the coast. Part of the old Arran Course will be incorporated into the new Arran Course which will be a short course for the new Colin Montgomerie Academy. The Ailsa Course will play host to the Women's British Open in 2002.

Gleneagles will again host the Scottish PGA Championships August 23-26, 2001. They also announce the appointment of Sandy Smith to Head Professional and Ian Cross to Senior Golf Instructor.Southern Gailes, by Kingsbarns' golf architect Kyle Phillips, is on schedule to open in the summer of 2002, on the west coast. The course will feature all the best elements of Scottish golf gorse, heather, broom and wetlands, in one magnificent layout.Carnoustie Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa will be one of the hosts this fall when the Alfred Dunhill Cup changes formats and is now played over Carnoustie, the Old Course and Kingsbarns. England - Stapleford Park, outside of London, has a wonderful new course by Donald Steel. Sam Torrance, the European Ryder Cup Captain, has signed to represent the property. Watch for Sam and American Captain, Curtis Strange, to play a Shell's Wonderful World of Golf Match at Carnegie Abbey on Narragansett Bay this June.
