NEW COURSE FOR DE VERE ON LOCH
LOMOND
One
of Scotland’s most charming and luxurious properties,
De Vere’s Cameron
House, located directly on the bonnie banks of
Loch Lomond, has long had a challenging and fun to
play 9-hole course on property. It has just been announced
that respected Canadian golf course architect Doug
Carrick will design a new course for DeVere
Resort Ownership, called Midross, slated to open
in 2005.
The 300-acre site is situated directly
on the shores of Loch Lomond, next to the Loch Lomond
Golf Club and about a mile from Cameron House. 100
acres of the site will be set aside and preserved
as a nature reserve consisting of woodlands and placid
lagoons, bird and otter sanctuaries.

The project on Loch Lomond by De
Vere Resort Ownership, who in addition to Cameron
House, is the owner operator of The Belfry, Slaley
Hall, Belton Woods, among other fine golf resorts
throughout the United Kingdom, will include an 18-hole
championship course, 100 timeshare lodges and a clubhouse
with leisure center.
The
course will be designed in a traditional heathland
style incorporating the natural elements of the area.
The routing will take the layout through a variety
of local landscape features – from the shores
of Loch Lomond, along inland lagoons, across open
meadows, to the edges of Auchentullich Woods and up
into the dramatic hills with stunning views of the
Loch. Carrick is quick to note that his goal is to
remain true to designing a course which reflects the
rich heritage of Scottish golf. Click the above image

Cameron House, and the new Midross
Course, are conveniently located only about 1/2 hour
from the Glasgow airport, making it a perfect beginning
or ending to a Scottish itinerary.
