Day 2: Sunday – Arrive Milan & Welcome Dinner

Your Epicurean Golf Tour begins in Milan. On arrival at Milan Airport you will be met by PerryGolf personnel who will assist you with your luggage and transfer to your transportation. The drive to Lake Como will take approximately 90 minutes; your luggage will travel in a separate van. Check-in at Villa d'Este begins at 2PM.

A private guided tour of Como begins late afternoon and ends in a local restaurant where one of the PerryGolf local staff will introduce the tour and answer any questions about the Epicurean Golf Vacation in Como.

In the foothills of the Alps in northern Italy, 1,300 foot deep Lake Como deserves its reputation as a playground for the wealthy. Many celebrities ranging from Matthew Bellamy to Madonna, George Clooney, Gianni Versace, Ronaldinho, Sylvester Stallone, Julian Lennon, Richard Branson, Ben Spies, and Pierina Legnani have taken residence at the lake with its many villas such as Villa Olmo, Villa Serbelloni, and Villa Carlotta and palaces. Beginning in mid-March glamorous crowds begin flocking to the towns around its midsection: Bellagio, Menaggio, Tremezzo, Varenna. The city of Como, on the lake’s southwestern tip, has recently blossomed into the new place to be seen thanks to trendy new development plus its art, churches, gardens, museums, theatres, parks and palaces: the Duomo (seat of Diocese of Como), the Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, the Villa Olmo, the public gardens with the Tempio Voltiano, the Teatro Sociale, the Broletto (the city's medieval town hall) and the 20th century Casa del Fascio.

Day 5: Wednesday – Milan Tour & Shopping

Today explore Milan for its culture and its shopping with the assistance of your private guide.

Milan is financially the most important city in Italy. It is the second most populous city and for many it represents the “new” Italy since the city was heavily bombed in the Second World War and subsequently rebuilt into a thriving cosmopolitan business capital. Keep in mind however it remains one of the oldest cities in Europe with more than 26 centuries of history and heritage! For a tourist, what makes Milan interesting compared to other places is that the city is more about the lifestyle of enjoying worldly pleasures: a paradise for shopping, football, opera, and nightlife. Milan is the marketplace for Italian fashion – fashion aficionados, supermodels and international paparazzi descend upon the city twice a year for its spring and autumn fairs.

Sights to see begin with Leonardo da Vinci’s famous fresco, The Last Supper, painted in the 15th century in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The Duomo of Milan is a Gothic cathedral that took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fifth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in the country. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story double arcade in central Milan, the Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.

Day 6: Thursday – Golf, Villa Carlotta & Bellagio

Today you will play Golf Club Menaggio and visit Villa Carlotta and Bellagio.

Menaggio is set in the hills beside Lake Como with magnificent views overlooking the water plus the Alps for a backdrop. It’s a short layout, barely 6,000 yards, but what this par 70 lacks in length it makes up for with terrain requiring precise play to narrow fairways and steep inclines. Be sure to visit the library considered the most precious concentration of golf publications in the world.

After golf, visit Villa Carlotta where your guide will be waiting to present this 17th century masterpiece and the beautiful gardens which adorn the property. This Baroque villa built in 1743 is known for its art, a magnificent collection that includes neoclassical sculptures by Canova and Tadolini as well as Romantic paintings like Francesco Hayez's Last Kiss of Romeo and Juliet. The botanical gardens are spectacular: 17 acres planted with more than 500 exotic species including camellia, laurel, rhododendron, papyrus, bamboo, bananas, citrus trees, and more than 150 varieties of azalea.

After Villa Carlotta, you and your guide will take the ferry for a 10 minute crossing of the lake to Bellagio. Here you’ll stroll the charming narrow streets of this enchanting village called “the pearl of the lake”. Bellagio is situated at the tip of the peninsula separating the lake's two southern arms, with the Alps visible across the lake to the north. Its beautiful and strategically important position has written its history. Bellagio is situated upon the extreme cape of the region that divides the Lake Como in two bifurcations. The tourist centre occupies the extreme part of the promontory, while the numerous districts are disseminated both along the lake shores and upon the slopes of the hills.

Return by ferry to Villa Carlotta and drive back to the hotel by late afternoon.

It’s a 6,435 yard par 71 founded in 1961 that plays through huge rhododendron bushes alternated with age-old majestic oaks. A major modernization was completed in 2007 which solidified the clubs standing as one of the best in the area.

Milanese style risotto
Risotto with mushrooms
Valdostana style escalope
