Opened in July 2002, the course was originally designed by Gene Sarazen and Bruce Devlin and stretches over Kittock's Den and along the sweeping coastline with clifftop views over the North Sea and Fife. Recent renovations have resulted in improved routing and overall asthetics. Golf dates back to 1793 on this site just 4 miles from your hotel. Its sandy, linksland soils produce the firm and fast running surfaces which characterize links golf along with an ideal environment for fine-bladed fescues to thrive. The club was reborn in 2000 as a modern links classic designed by Kyle Phillips in collaboration with Mark Parsinen offering generous greens and fairways set dramatically beside the rugged North Sea. Kingsbarns has co-hosted the prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, alongside the Old Course and Carnoustie, since 2001. The New Course was laid out by Old Tom Morris directly adjacent to the Old Course and opened in 1895. A great emphasis is placed on hitting the fairways as several holes have been carved through blankets of gorse bushes. The greens remain in their original positions, and apart from additions for length no other changes have been made. The 225 yard par 3 ninth along the Eden estuary and the 464 yard par 4 tenth are sure to test your mettle.
