of South Africa, cradled by the imposing bulk of Table Mountain, Devil's Peak
and Lions Head. Highlights of the north and southbound routes include a visit to
the historic village of Matjiesfontein. This authentic perfectly preserved
Victorian Village, which was founded by Mr Logan as a refreshment stop in 1890,
also boasts an impressive museum on the platform. A stop is also made in
Kimberley providing an opportunity to enjoy a city tour and a visit to the Mine

prawn curry. The menu is vast, but standout items are the superb bouillabaisse
and the duet of quail, stuffed with goat's cheese and preserved fig, served with
a white wine and chive sauce respectively. Brilliant. It boasts one of the best
views in the Waterfront, and is much loved by the glitterati . With nice plush

Overnight: Fancourt Hotel: Executive Room - including
breakfast (2 Rooms, 4
passengers)
DAY 12
Today play Fancourt - The Links (tbc). Created from a
previously flat piece of land, over 700 000 cubic metres of earth was moved in
transforming it into a typical Links style. The course presents undulating
windswept terrain and dune-style landscape and is the only such course in South
Africa. Every hole has received detailed attention to ensure that the overall
balance in terms of length, position of hazards and shot values are in harmony.
As a result, The Links presents a stern test in all weather conditions. This is
a walking course with caddies, and is ranked 3 in South Africa. Host course of
the 2003 Presidents Cup, 2005 Women's World Cup and 2006 South African Open
Non-golfers: Enjoy the Spa at Fancourt or head down the
coast to Knysna & Plettenberg Bay. Forest elephants, whales, sundowner
cruises and the worlds highest bungee jump are all on the menu.
Restaurant Suggestion: Serendipity (Wilderness) 20 minutes
from Fancourt.
Come here for a five-course table d'hote menu with the most
delicious South African-inspired cuisine, designed by awardwinning chef Lizelle
Stolze. The menus change regularly but you have a choice (the soup and sorbet
are a given). Think rosemary-crusted springbok loin on a samp and mushroom
risotto and roasted brinjal and butternut roulade with a chunky seshebo. Wine
Rudolf Stolze's cellar boasts the best available in South Africa and he
regularly sources local wines to match the food. Serendipity is the definition
of a hidden gem!
Overnight: Fancourt Hotel: Executive Room -
including breakfast (2 Rooms, 4
passengers)
DAY 13
Today play Pinnacle Point (tbc). Magnificently perched atop
staggering cliffs, this windswept course three hours east of Cape Town and a
half hour south of George marks a major addition to South Africa’s already
world-class golf scene. Six of the holes play across deep chasms to greens that
seem to float in the Indian Ocean. The yawning ravines and distant horizons can
make 150-yard shots look like twice that length. On the par-four eighth, tee and
green sit on opposing bluffs; big hitters can attempt an all-or-nothing carry
with the hope of having an easy wedge in, or play it safe by bailing out left
and facing a much longer approach. Throughout the layout, the architects wisely
designed large, fairly flat greens that yield plenty of sensible pin placements
and give golfers—who have run a gauntlet just to get to the green a bit of a
break.
Golf Cart included for the round and halfway snack
Sightseeing Suggestion: Today tour the Klein Karoo region
inland from George, taking in the town of Oudshoorn, the Ostrich farms, Cango
Wildlife Ranch & the Cango Caves. 29km from Oudtshoorn, at the head of the
picturesque Cango Valley, lies the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein
Karoo - the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the Swartberg
Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns in Africa, with vast halls
and towering formations. Lost in absolute darkness, a deep stillness, a constant
temperature and high humidity, it is a world with its own unique scenery of
calcite masterpieces formed by gently dripping water. The tour includes a few
natural chambers and takes one (standard) or one-and-a-half hours (adventure) to
explore.
Overnight: Fancourt Hotel: Executive Room - including
breakfast (2 Rooms, 4
passengers)
