The Chef’s Garden at Villa d’Este

by PerryGolf Staff on June 18, 2011

I have previously blogged that I believe when on travel to Italy, a cooking class must be top of the list.  If you are staying at Villa d’Este you can attend The Chef’s Garden which is located on the panoramic hillside leading to the Statue of Hercules and Lica.  Cooking lessons, using fresh ingredients from the garden, are available on request; and after your lesson, a wine tasting is recommended to finish off your evening!

Cooking School, Italy

by PerryGolf Staff on September 2, 2010

If you are travelling to Italy, the one activity that we find both golfers and non-golfers alike love, is an authentic Italian cooking class.  An ideal location to experience this is in the Lake Como area where cooking classes take place in the Culinary Institute, “Gianni Brera” – which is considered one of the best institutes in Italy.  Lessons are hands-on and before beginning the cooking process, the participants will be taken to the nearby food department store where the chef will introduce you to the culinary habits of the Italians.

No trip to Rome would be complete without visiting the Colosseum – the most famous monument in the city also known as The Flavius Amphitheatre.  Opened in 80 A.D., it is one of the most impressive structures in the world, and standing aside the building truly gives the impression of a once imposing and enthralling historical event.

The hotel boasts an 18 hole, Par 72 Championship Golf Course “Arzaga I”, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus II; while the 9-hole course Arzaga II, was designed by Gary Player.  The courses are designed to fit in around the hilly landscape and I think you’ll find they are great courses for both beginners and professionals.

Villa d’Este – Italy

by PerryGolf Staff on June 3, 2010

One of our most popular hotels in Italy has to be Villa d’Este; the hotel is set on the shores of Lake Como and more than deserves the many awards it has received over the years – the most recent being presented by Forbes Traveler 400 in 2009 for World’s Best Hotel.

The main building was built in 1568 as the summer residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and was then changed to a luxurious hotel in 1783.  Villa d’Este has 153 bedrooms and with several dining outlets you are spoiled for choice.  It is also in an easily accessible location, only 60 minutes away from Milano Malpensa Airport!
