by Mhairi on December 19, 2011

Royal Portrush Golf Club

The 2013 Irish Open will be held at Royal Portrush – the only club in Ireland to have hosted the Open Championship.  With two fantastic links courses; the Dunluce Links and the Valley Links; avid golfers are always keen to include Royal Portrush in their Northern Irish golfing itineraries.

Ardglass Golf Club Win Award

by PerryGolf Staff on December 8, 2011

Congratulations to Ardglass Golf Club who recently won Irish Golf Tour Operators Association (IGTOA) Links Golf Course of the Year 2011.  Located in Northern Ireland, the club is a great addition to a golf schedule in that area and for groups looking at 36 holes, it could easily be combined with a morning round on Royal County Down.  To read more on the club’s award, please click here.

2014 Ryder Cup Dates Announced

by PerryGolf Staff on December 4, 2011

The Ryder Cup will be held over the weekend of 26-28 September in 2014, it was announced earlier today.  The event, which will be held in Scotland for the first time since 1973 when it was at Muirfield, will be played over the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles.  Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, was “delighted to have seen […] the many exciting changes that are being made to improve this already outstanding golf course.   As well as the hi-tech efforts to reduce water on the greens, the Ryder Cup teams can expect many of the changes – proposed by Jack Nicklaus – to provide a sterner test as they seek glory during the competition.”

St Andrews Achieves Top Environmental Award

by PerryGolf Staff on November 19, 2011

Congratulations to the St. Andrews Links Trust who have become the first Open championship course to win a GEO (Golf Environment Organisation) certified eco-label.  The Links Trust at St. Andrews manages seven courses around the town and the award is in recognition of operating a sustainability programme across all courses and facilities, as well as demonstrating a commitment to promoting social responsibility and community engagement.  It is good to see a course with such heritage demonstrating such view to the future.  You can see further details here.

by PerryGolf Staff on November 4, 2011

It was recently announced that the Open Championship will return to the home of golf in 2015.  The Open is widely regarded as the most prestigious Major Championship and I honestly believe that winning it around the Old Course at St. Andrews must add so much to the satisfaction of the winner.
